Ireland's wait for a first win in the Pro League continues as they fell to an agonising late defeat by hosts India in Bhubaneswar.

The game looked to be heading for a scoreless stalemate before India's Gurjant Singh hit a last-minute goal.

Singh struck in the final minute with a powerful shot to dash Irish hopes of securing their first points in the Pro League.

Ireland are next in action on Monday against the Netherlands.

The Irish lost 5-1 to the Dutch in their opener on Saturday before suffering defeats by Australia and Spain in what has been a difficult first week in the competition.

Mark Tumilty's side also face second games against Australia, Spain and India before the next block of games in Belgium in May.

"While we defended well, I still thought we created chances in attack," Tumilty said of the India game.

"I feel for [Ireland goalkeeper] Jamie Carr tonight, he's annoyed with that last minute goal. It was one of those unfortunate goals. A good finish by them, it was well hit.

"We dealt with their attack well and hit them on the counter. In our deep zone we were good. Lots of positives I thought we were good with the ball as well.

"We were a bit unlucky with some of the decisions which didn't go our way."
