Wales' women have secured a place in the World Cup qualifiers for just the second time in their history, after progressing from the group stage of EuroHockey Championship II.

Two goals from Amy Cradden - both from penalty corners - helped Wales secure a 2-0 win over Lithuania, following up on wins over Switzerland and Czech Republic.

Wales' only previous qualification for the World Cup qualifiers came back in 2021, where they lost to Ireland in the final round.

Having only conceded one goal in the group stage, Wales will now face the second-place team from Pool A in Friday's semi-final.

Victory in the semi-final will see Wales compete in the top tier of European hockey in 2027 in London.

Wednesday proved a big day for Wales' men's team as well, as they secured an emphatic win to progress through their group stage of the EuroHockey Championship II.

Wales scored 14 goals in a statement victory over Croatia in Portugal, with seven coming in the first quarter alone.

Jack Pritchard and Gareth Furlong were the game's top scorers with four and three goals respectively.

This win sees the team qualify for the semi-finals, with the result of the Scotland vs Switzerland game later today to determine who they face on Friday.

Wales must win their semi-final to guarantee their qualification to the men's World Cup qualifiers.
