Belfast Giants maintained their seven-point lead at the top of the Elite League by hammering Edinburgh.

Aaron Clarke opened the scoring in the first period and also netted in the second, along with team-mates Jeff Mason and Jeremy Rebek.

Craig Peacock got two goals in the third for the Giants who added further goals through Adam Keefe and Mason.

Victory in one of next weekend's two home games against Sheffield Steelers will secure the league title.

Belfast face the Steelers at the Odyssey Arena on Friday night before their St Patrick's Day clash against the Sheffield outfit.

Belfast's title rivals the Sheffield Steelers won 4-0 away to Cardiff.
