Elite League: Cardiff Devils 2-7 Belfast Giants

Belfast Giants hammered the Devils on Sunday to make it two wins from their opening two Elite League games.

Evan Cheverie put Belfast ahead and Calvin Elfring added a second before the Welsh hosts levelled with goals from Andrew Conboy and Mac Faulkner.

Jeffrey Szwez made it 3-2 before the Giants surged clear in the third period with strikes from Chris Higgins, Adam Keefe (2) and Robby Sandrock.

Belfast started their league campaign with a 5-0 home win over Edinburgh.

Szwez netted twice against the Scots in the middle session on Saturday night.

New signings Dustin Whitecotton and Higgins opened their accounts for the Giants in the final 20 minutes.

The scoring was rounded off by captain Keefe with netminder Stephen Murphy having to make just 13 saves for the shutout.
