Belfast Giants secure a road victory beating the Sheffield Steelers 3-1 at the Motorpoint Arena.

Belfast Giants extended their Elite League lead to 15 points as they won 3-1 in Sheffield on Saturday and nearest challengers Dundee lost against Hull.

Darryl Lloyd put the Giants ahead in the first period with Kevin Saurette and Evan Cheverie adding further goals in the second period.

Rob Sirianni pulled a goal back for Sheffield in the final period.

The Giants have another away game on Sunday evening when they take on Edinburgh Capitals (18:00 GMT).

Dundee remain second in the table following their 4-2 defeat at Hull after Nottingham could only manage an over-time defeat against Coventry.

The Giants now have 56 points from 34 games with Dundee remaining on 41, Nottingham on 40 and Sheffield and Braehead both on 39.

Dundee, Sheffield and Nottingham all have three games in hand on the leaders but Belfast still appear out of sight at the top.
