EIHL Challenge Cup: Cardiff Devils 4-3 Guildford Flames

Cardiff Devils stunned Elite League leaders Sheffield Steelers with five unanswered goals at Utilita Arena.

The visitors took the lead through Sam Duggan.

Justin Crandall and Brandon McNally added their names to the scoresheet while Cole Sanford scored a brace.

The win followed Devils' 4-3 penalty shootout triumph in the Challenge Cup against Guildford Flames on Saturday in which Brodie Reid scored the decisive goal after overtime stalemate.

Ian McNulty and Jake Bolton put the visitors 2-0 up in the first before Brandon McNally pulled one back.

Just 25 seconds into the second period the Flames restored their two-goal advantage through Brett Ferguson.

McNally's second made it 3-2 before Stephen Dixon's equaliser. The third period and overtime remained goalless, taking the game went to a shootout.

Reid opened for the Devils and Ian McNulty levelled for the Flames to make the first round 1-1. It was not until the 12th shot overall that Reid found the net and the winner was decided.

The Devils avoided their third consecutive defeat and by taking the extra point to win the game they topped their Challenge Cup group.
