Leaders Sheffield Steelers took a huge stride towards securing the Elite League title as they saw off second placed Cardiff Devils 4-0 on home turf.

Mikko Juusola set up Brien Diffley to strike first for the home side, but the game remained delicately poised after a scoreless second period.

Steelers took control in the third however, with Brett Neumann, Dominic Cormier and Mitchell Balmas on target.

Sheffield are now four points clear at the top with two games in hand.

Devils are next in action on Boxing Day on Tuesday at home in the Vindico Arena to Coventry Blaze (17:00 GMT), before a return game the following day at the SkyDome Arena.
