Sheffield Steelers extended their lead at the top of the Elite League with a 5-1 demolition of Cardiff Devils in the Welsh capital.

Marcus Crawford put Devils in front in the first period, before two powerplay goals from Marc-Olivier Vallerand.

All the damage was done in the second, with Mitchell Balmas, Mikko Juusola and Scott Allen all netting for the visitors.

Steelers are now 10 points clear of Devils at the top of the table.

They also have two games in hand, while Belfast Giants are just a point behind Devils in third.

Devils will look to return to winning ways when they travel to Manchester Storm on 6 January.
