Bottom of the table Nottingham Panthers pulled off a major upset by beating Cardiff Devils.

Devils had led 4-3 going into the final period before goals from Hugo Roy and Joel Hazeldine sealed victory.

The result ends Devils' 12-match winning streak and puts further daylight between them and Elite League leaders Sheffield Steelers who they host on Saturday.

Panthers remain 10th, but just two points adrift of Fife Flyers.

Brandon Alderson gave Devils the lead before Didrik Henbrant and Logan Neilson replied for the hosts.

Joey Martin made it 2-2 at the end of the first period before a double from Jamie Arniel gave Devils some breathing space.

Anthony Luciani got one back to make it a one score game going into the dramatic third and final period, during which Devils head coach Pete Russell was penalised for unsportsmanlike conduct.

It summed up a disappointing evening for Devils as they make their journey back to south Wales.
