Cardiff Devils beat Coventry Blaze 3-0 in a top of the table Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) showdown at the Skydome Arena.

A fiercely contested encounter remained scoreless until Zach O'Brien netted the game's opener in the final stages of the second period.

Reid Duke extended the away side's advantage early on in the third period before O'Brien scored his second to seal a 10th EIHL victory for the Welsh side.

Devils' netminder Mac Carruth stopped all 32 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season.

Cardiff top the table with 20 points from 12 games, while Coventry slip to third behind defending champions Sheffield Steelers who have 14 points from eight.

Devils are back in action against Glasgow Clan in Elite League on Friday, 22 November (19:30 GMT).
