Cardiff Devils remain top of the Elite League with a 6-3 victory over Sheffield Steelers.

Devils charged into the lead with first period goals from Josh MacDonald, Ben Davies and Gleason Fournier.

Brett Perlini and Andrew MacWilliam added their names to the scoresheet as Devils took a 5-0 lead into the final period.

Cole Sanford scored a sixth before a late flurry of goals from Steelers, with Daniel Ciampini, Mitchell Balmas and Mark Simpson all finding the net.

The victory was a fitting way to mark captain Mark Richardson's 1,000th game for the Devils.

Richardson is currently third on the most games played in Elite League history behind Jonathan Phillips (1,177) and Devils’ assistant coach Matthew Myers (1,115).

Richardson sits at 1,109 competitive Elite League games.
