Coventry Blaze came away from Cardiff Devils with a 5-3 victory in the Challenge Cup.
Devils had led at the Vindico Arena courtesy of a powerplay goal from Ryan Barrow, but the visitors struck back with scores from Kim Tallberg and Nick Seitz.
Brandon Alderson fired home to extend Blaze's lead before Kohen Olischefski pulled it back to 2-3.
Chase Gresock and Zach O'Brien exchanged scores in the final period, while Tallberg added a second to round off the evening's scoring.
The loss leaves Devils in a tough position in the Challenge Cup standings.
They now need to win their three remaining games and rely on other results in order to qualify for the next round.
Devils did have some cause to celebrate when Joey Martin's assist for O'Brien saw him become the Elite League's all-time non-homegrown points leader.
He has hit 597 points, surpassing Jeff Legue's record of 596.
Devils return to league action with a trip to Nottingham Panthers on Saturday, while Blaze travel to Dundee Stars.
