    Great Manchester Run

    A huge applause for the emergency services followed a minute's silence for the victims and casualties of Manchester's arena attack in which 22 people died.

    Manchester Poet Tony "Longfella" Walsh then read an inspiring poem before runners set off under the banner #RunForManchester.

  3. What's the running order for today?

    The day started at 9:00 BST with the beginning of the 13.1 half marathon route.

    At 12:30 BST, the elite wheelchair racers will start followed by the elite women at 12:45.

    The elite men as well as fast-paced club runners will begin at 13:07.

    The public runners will begin in waves at 13:25, 13:55, 14:00, 14:40 and 15:00 BST.

  4. What coverage is on the BBC?

    BBC One will have live coverage 12:30-14:30 BST, presented by Ore Oduba. Denise Lewis and JJ Chalmers report from the course, while Paula Radcliffe joins Steve Cram in the commentary box.

    A highlights programme will be on BBC Two 17:00-18:00 BST.

  5. What is the Great Manchester Run?

    Originally established in 2003, the Great Manchester Run has now become an iconic event in the UK's sporting calendar.

    The race starts in the city centre on Portland Street close to the junction with Oxford Road.

    The route continues through the city along Chester Road and Bridgewater Way up to Old Trafford and Salford Quays before returning to the city centre and finishing at Deansgate near the Beetham Tower.

    A new half-marathon route has also been introduced this year.
