    The 2018 Boston Marathon features New York City Marathon champion Shalane Flanagan of the United States in the women’s race and Chicago Marathon champion Galen Rupp, also from the US, in the men’s event.

    The last time an American won the women’s event was back in 1985. The men’s race includes six returning champions such as Geoffrey Kirui, Lemi Berhanu Hayle and Lelisa Desisa.
