  3. Division Two updatespublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 23 June

Northants have closed at 308-5 in reply to Middlesex's 413 - no clues to the winner there. Saif Zaib finishing the day on 83no.

Gloucestershire are 62-1 in their second innings but still trail Derbyshire by 149 runs.

Lancashire end day two on 120-1 after Kent's 374.

If there's a winner in those three games, Derbyshire seem favourite...

  4. Close of play at Edgbastonpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 23 June

    Warwickshire 158-1 v Somerset 498

Somerset will be disappointed to have not managed full batting bonus points today, despite the three Toms' late charge.

Tom Lammonby notched his highest first-class score of 133 but may feel there an asterisk on it with this being on a flat hybrid against a kookaburra ball. Nonetheless his was the knock of the day. Somerset should not lose having set nearly 500 in the first innings with the home side still trailing by 340.

Warwickshire will be particularly happy to have survived the three clear chances Somerset missed this afternoon and will aim to bat to at least 110 overs gone in this first innings tomorrow, then perhaps have a go at Somerset's batters tomorrow evening.

There are big hundreds well up for grabs for both Tom Latham and Alex Davies sleeping whilst in the 60s tonight.

  5. Close of play at New Roadpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 23 June

    Worcs 214 & 69-4 v Surrey 291

A classic day of ebb and flow in the County Championship but it's the title holders Surrey who will expect to wrap it up tomorrow.

Worcestershire, inspired by Ben Allison (5-44), got themselves back into it by reducing Surrey from 160-1 to 197-6 in their first innings reply.

But Dan Lawrence (52) and Jordan Clark (34) shared a seventh wicket stand of 69 valuable runs.

We also saw Worcestershire awarded five penalty runs when Mitchell Santner showed dissent to the umpire when given out lbw.

The fragile home batting was then shown up by the Surrey seamers and, still trailing by eight runs Worcestershire will do well to extend this into the afternoon session tomorrow.

    Jennings lbw b Evison 49 (Lancs 119-1 v Kent 374)

We said Kent were desperate for the breakthrough...

And they have it, Keaton Jennings departing lbw to Joey Evison.

Still comfortably the lowest-scoring of all nine games we're covering.

  7. Postpublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 23 June

    Worcs 214 & 66-4 v Surrey 291

We have two overs remaining but it'll take a while as Ryan Patel needs the shin pads to go in at short leg with Mitchell Santner brought on to bowl.

I think the Kiwi has recovered from his earlier loss of composure when given out and conceding five penalty runs for showing dissent.

    Worcestershire trail by 11 runs.

  8. Close of play at Grace Roadpublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 23 June

    Leicestershire 389-3 v Glamorgan 353

    Leicestershire celebrateImage source, Rex Features

Chris Wright came in to nightwatch and did his job, even taking four off the last ball of the day, he's 12*.

Ben Kellaway bowled the last, finishing with 0-54 off his 10 overs.

Mason Crane taking 1-94 off 18 overs this afternoon including the key wicket of centurion Rehan Ahmed.

Lewis Hill will commence tomorrow am on 66* from 116 balls.

Leicestershire currently scoring at nearly five runs per over will have 450 inside 110 overs well within their sights.

  9. Close of play at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 23 June

    Notts 487 v Yorkshire 154-3

Dan Moriarty and Finlay Bean make it through to the close, but Nottinghamshire will be delighted by that late wicket of Dawid Malan.

The Division One leaders have a 333-run lead and are firmly in control after a productive day two.

Ishan Kishan, Liam Patterson-White and Dillon Pennington piled on the runs before lunch to take the hosts past 450, before Mohammad Abbas removed Adam Lyth with the first delivery of Yorkshire's reply.

James Wharton fell to Pennington when he chipped a full ball to Haseeb Hameed at mid-off, but Bean has batted patiently and calmly for his unbeaten 86.

He needs to go on tomorrow if Yorkshire are to stay in the contest.

  10. Postpublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 23 June

    Worcs 214 & 58-4 v Surrey 291

Ben Allison is in as nightwatchman for Worcestershire.

Adam Hose has recovered from a blow to the hand and promptly hits 10 runs from three balls - almost as if he knows there'll be one with his name on it at some point.

The uneven bounce I mentioned earlier is now plain to see.

We have three overs remaining in the day.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Lancashire's Wellspublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 23 June

    Lancashire 109-0 v Kent 374

This is an impressive riposte from Lancashire after a day and a half of toil in the field.

Seems fair to say the Blackpool pitch and Kookaburra are not conducive to the bowlers...

Luke Wells passes his half-century and Kent's bowling attack are desperate for any kind of breakthrough before stumps.

  12. 150 runs

150 for Warwickshirepublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 23 June

    Warwickshire 151-1 v Somerset 498

Still 5.5 overs remaining here as Craig Overton sets a field for a few short balls.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 23 June

    Malan c McCann b Patterson-White 19 (Notts 487 v Yorkshire 154-3)

A huge blow for Yorkshire, a massive boost for Nottinghamshire.

Dawid Malan drives at one from Liam Patterson-White, gets an edge and it pops up to Freddie McCann at slip.

Dan Moriarty is in to hopefully see the visitors through to the crease.

  14. Postpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 23 June

    Warwickshire 148-1 v Somerset 498

Archie Vaughan to have his first bowl, from the City End.

Four overs the most he could bowl this evening.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 23 June

    Ahmed c Leonard b Crane 106 (Leicestershire 366-3 v Glamorgan 353)

Mason Crane gets his first wicket.

Rehan Ahmed holes out to deep midwicket for 106 off 117 balls.

It was not the cleanest of catches, but Ned Leonard takes it and that is all that matters.

  16. Postpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 23 June

    Worcs 214 & 46-4 v Surrey 291

Adam Hose is now wringing his hand as Jordan Clark gets one to climb and smack into the Worcestershire batsman's hand.

Hose takes his glove off and will need treatment.

We still have 4.5 overs remaining in the day.

  17. Postpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 23 June

    Warwickshire 146-1 v Somerset 498

Remember Somerset were 186 before they lost their first wicket.

I am not sure if that quite qualifies them to be on top, they would much rather have taken one of their three significant chances to rid either of these two from the crease, but they will not be too deflated just yet as Warwickshire's openers bat well.

    Seven overs remain tonight.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 23 June

    Libby lbw Fisher 20 (Worcs 214 & 46-4 v Surrey 291)

    Over before lunch tomorrow?

Jake Libby hits a boundary before the ball flies past his outside edge.

Matthew Fisher then gets it right with a ball that just swings back into the Worcestershire skipper and he's trapped lbw.

  19. Postpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 23 June

    Notts 487 v Yorkshire 154-2

There are three overs left in the day at Trent Bridge as Yorkshire continue to slowly chip away at Nottinghamshire's sizeable first-innings score.

Finlay Bean has moved on to 86 - he's been a figure of calm - while Dawid Malan has 19.

  20. Close of play at the Riversidepublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 23 June

    Durham 249-5 v Sussex 361

Jofra Archer in action for SussexImage source, PA Media

Despite the late dismissal of Colin Ackermann (65) it was Durham's day as we saw Jofra Archer put his bowling boots on in the County Championship for the first time in four years.

James Coles finished 148 not out for the visitors, adding 47 runs for the 10th wicket with Gurinder Sandhu.

Archer bowled his 14 overs in three spells with the wicket of Emilio Gay (37) in his figures of 1-28.

But Ackermann and Graham Clark (46*) shared a sixth-wicket stand of 76 runs to leave Durham in a good position heading into day three.
