Gold for Para-swimmer Alice Tai just months after leg amputation
The success of English Para-swimmer Alice Tai is one hell of story.
Tai won Commonwealth gold in Birmingham on Sunday - just months after having her right leg amputated in January.
The 23-year-old triumphed for England in the S8 100m backstroke at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.
It was her second Commonwealth title after victory in Gold Coast four years ago, but, she admitted, far more unexpected.
"I didn't think I would be able to race this season," Tai told BBC Sport.
"I'm so grateful that Team England let me come here and compete."
Tai was born with bilateral talipes (club feet) which led to multiple operations as a youngster and increasing pain afterwards and required her to use crutches as a mobility aid.
However, the pressure on her arms left her requiring surgery on both elbows last year and as a result, she had to pull out of the Tokyo Paralympics.

Peaty beaten
One of the big stories on day three came in the pool when England's James Wilby shattered team-mate Adam Peaty's hold on the 100m breaststroke title with a superb swim.
Wilby, so long in the shadow of Peaty, screamed with delight as his finish overhauled the fading Olympic champion and brought him home in 59.25 seconds.

The Aussies racked up more success on Sunday, extending their advantage to 52 medals by winning nine gold, five silver and six bronze.
England, with their golden success in swimming, triathlon and gymnastics, move above New Zealand into second place.
Scotland are well into double figures after finding silver lining in the velodrome, while Wales won their first gold of the Games.

We're at it again.
It's day four of the Commonwealth Games and there are 28 gold medals on offer as the action ramps up.
There'll be eight in swimming, five in gymnastics, five in judo, four in track cycling, three in weightlifting, two in lawn bowls
and one in table tennis.
Oh and in other sporting news England created history by winning their first major women's tournament in a dramatic Euro 2022 final against eight-time champions Germany at Wembley.
