  1. Post update

    England 13-14 New Zealand

Now then, is that a crucial moment? New Zealand earn a turnover and take the lead with 10 seconds on the clock for quarter one. that could be a big moment in shifting the momentum in this bronze medal match.

Until then, it was feeling a little flat. 15 minutes down.

  2. Post update

    England 8-8 New Zealand

    Becky Grey

    BBC Sport at NEC Arena

The crowd are still cheering England's every move at the NEC, but the loudest chant is actually one of 'defence' in support of New Zealand.

I think they've got a few family members in who are bringing the noise.

  3. Post update

    England 8-8 New Zealand

We really are going goal for goal here at the NEC, neither team have managed to find that turnover to get out of this rut.

Ellie Cardwell is cutting it fine with the three seconds and that is where we might see an opening for New Zealand. But for now it's as you were.

  4. Thomas among lead group

    Men's road race

Wales' Geraint Thomas, English trio Fred Wright, Ben Turner and Sam Watson, Scotland's Sean Flynn and Sean Crockett, and Northern Ireland's Matthew Teggart are among a leading group that has managed to break up the main peloton.

They've got a decent advantage now of around 18 seconds to the main group.

  5. England's Perry & Waters into squash final

    Women's doubles semi-finals

Sarah-Jane Perry and Alison Waters of England are through to the squash women's doubles final after coming from behind to beat Malaysian pair Rachel Arnold and Aifa Azman in their semi-final.

The pair will face New Zealand's Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy in the final tomorrow after a 8-11, 11-6, 11-9 win.

Birmingham-born Perry will now have the chance to try and better the silver she won in the singles last year.

  6. Post update

    England 1-1 New Zealand

Here we go then. Laura Malcolm gets us underway and England take it straight to goal, New Zealand do the same on their centre pass and I think we may be going like this for quite a while.

It is definitely a bit quieter at the NEC than yesterday.

  7. Post update

New Zealand v England (13:30 BST)

    Becky Grey

    BBC Sport at NEC Arena

This is not the match England would have wanted to play today, but the crowd are doing their best to bring the energy.

They've been dancing solidly for the last 20 minutes.

  8. England's Smith & Birch guaranteed medal in women's doubles

    Women's doubles semi-finals

Lauren Smith will contest two finals on Sunday. She and Chloe Birch came from 9-15 down to win it and book their spot in the gold medal match.

They saved two game points in the second game, and won 21-14 24-22 over Australia's Hsuan-Yu (Wendy) Chen and Gronya Somerville.

  9. Usoro-Brown to retire

England v New Zealand (13:30 BST)

This morning England defender Eboni Usoro-Brown has announced she will retire from netball after this Commonwealth Games to spend more time with her family and pursue her career in law. Usoro-Brown has made 116 caps for England, winning Commonwealth gold and bronze and three World Cup bronze medals.

That means two of England's most experienced defenders will not put on the Roses dress again after today, Stacey Francis-Bayman also announced her retirement earlier this year.

  10. Post update

    Men's road race

The Australian team is trying to shut down an attack, with a group of 10 riders just out in front.

It looks like this one will also be brought back. Nothing doing so far...

  11. England's Cardwell back in starting team

New Zealand v England (13:30 BST)

    Becky Grey

    BBC Sport at NEC Arena

England's Eleanor Cardwell returns to the starting side for their bronze-medal match against New Zealand.

Cardwell was benched in favour of the more experienced Jo Harten for the defending champions' semi-final defeat to Australia yesterday.

But their roles are reversed today as Cardwell partners Helen Housby in the shooting circle.

Laura Malcolm starts too, replacing Stacey Francis-Bayman at wing defence.

New Zealand: Nweke, Selby-Rickit, Crampton (capt), Souness, Heffernan, Karaka, Jury.

England: Cardwell, Housby, Metcalf (capt), Clarke, Malcolm, Guscoth, Mentor.

  12. England must go again

England v New Zealand (13:30 BST)

England might be facing the world champions but will take comfort in the fact that they have already beaten them in the group stage at this Commonwealth Games.

The Roses secured a comfortable 54-44 victory over the Silver Ferns to finish top of Pool B, but it will be a tough ask for Jess Thirlby to pick up her side after a disappointing performance yesterday.

Having not managed to secure a medal for the first ever on the Gold Coast four years ago, New Zealand will be up for this one.

  13. England go for bronze against New Zealand

England v New Zealand (13:30 BST)

It wasn't to be yesterday for England against top-seeded side Australia.

The Diamonds managed to run out to an early lead and the Roses had nothing in the tank to combat the shooting of Gretel Bueta and the dominance of Ash Brazill in mid-court.

But, today is a new day and there's a bronze medal up for grabs, with New Zealand the opponents.

  15. Team Wales at front of road race

    Men's road race

Wales have strength in numbers at the front of the race.

A lead group of 10, featuring three Welsh riders, is hanging a few seconds off the front of the main group with eight laps of the circuit to come.

  16. Eccles lands gold for Wales

Rosie Eccles won light middleweight gold for Wales by stopping Australia's Kaye Scott in the second round of their final.

  17. Post update

    Men's road race

Geraint Thomas has shown his face at the front of the men's road race, but the main group is all back together again after a couple of early attacks with 130km to go.

  18. Scotland's success

    Men's middleweight

Birmingham 2022 will go down as Scotland's most successful Commonwealth Games outside of Glasgow 2014 following boxing golds for Sam Hickey and Sean Lazzerini, after Neah Evans took cycling silver.

  19. Watch: The best of the athletics

That's all the action from Alexander Stadium for now.

The finals will continue from 19:05 BST tonight. Until then, here are some of the highlights from Sunday's early session.

  20. 'We delivered'

    BBC Sport

Here's England's gold-medal winning team, speaking to BBC Sport:

Jona Efoloko: "Honestly it was amazing. I am loving more and more. Second time, second medal. It's a lot of pressure and you want to do well."

Zharnel Hughes: "I was just focusing on getting the job done and I trusted Jona because we have run together. Ran into Nethaneel and once he made up the ground I knew that was it."

Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake: "I didn't hear him calling hand he called out three times, I knew we would be in a shot and that's what we delivered."

Ojie Edoburun: "I am just so happy to come in and fitting right in with the boys. I didn't want to miss out on this special generation of athletes and I want to take this confidence into the Europeans."
