    We’ll try again on Sunday where every effort will be made to play at least three games of a minimum of five overs.

    But - if that's not possible - we’ll come back on Wednesday.

    Tomorrow's live will start up at 10:15 BST, hopefully you're able to join us.

    And please. No overnight rain dances!

  2. Sunday's forecastpublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    Maybe - just maybe - we'll get some play tomorrow afternoon. But I'm very encouraged by this further reserve day on Wednesday October 7 if we get another washout.

    Incidentally, it's worth mentioning the ECB's proposals have been unanimously agreed with all four teams, the ECB Board, the host venue and broadcast partners.

  3. Close of playpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    No play possible on Saturday

    It's official. We've just got word from the ECB. Due to the wet conditions, play has been abandoned and the reserve day is in place for tomorrow.

    All timings will remain the same with an 11am start for the first semi-final.

    The ECB have said:

    • We will do everything possible to play three matches tomorrow, each of a minimum of 5 overs per innings, to complete the competition;
    • We are committed to trying to ensure that the competition is completed on-field. As such, if we are unable to complete the first semi-final, Finals Day will be re-scheduled for 7 October at Edgbaston for which there will be no reserve day;
    • However, if we complete one semi-final tomorrow but are unable to complete the second semi-final and/or the final, match(es) will be determined by a bowl out or bowl outs;
    • If it proves impossible to complete Finals Day on field on 7 October, match(es) will be determined by a bowl out or bowl outs.
  4. Update: Yep, still rainingpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    We should be starting the second innings of the second semi-final now.

    Instead, the weather has stopped any hope of action today.

    It's fair to say you lot aren't fans of a bowl-out solution.

    Anon: No hope today and tomorrows forecast is also pretty awful. Not ideal the Semi-Finals and Final could be decided by a Bowl-Out. Just play Monday surely? Weather better and not like there's a crowd to worry about.

    Jason Cole: Play 6 aside indoor games for the finals!

    Edgbaston has a very good indoor set-up...

  5. Possible bowl-out loomspublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    The rain continues.

    A reminder that if we can't see play today or tomorrow, both semi-finals and final could be decided by an indoor bowl-out.

    In that case, five players from each side will bowl two deliveries each at a wicket. The side which hits the stumps most times will be the winner.

    Still no official confirmation that Finals Day will be pushed back to tomorrow's reserve day for the first time in T20 Blast history.

    The outfield is extremely wet, I doubt we'll see any cricket until well into Sunday afternoon.

    Conditions are so bad they can't even stage the annual mascot race. Gutted.

  8. Time running out at Edgbaston?published at 13:36 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    It's still raining and looking more likely that a 'No play possible on Saturday' decision will be made.

    Remember, a reserve day for both semi-finals and final is available for tomorrow.

    Meanwhile, we've been enjoying all the workarounds you've suggested using #bbccricket. Here are some of our favourites:

    Matt Clayton: Rearrange for April and have Finals Day as the opener to the 2021/22 season AND more of a chance of having fans in

    @Umpires_Call: Share trophy, three months each, and then all the teams can celebrate tomorrow night. Four teams with decent news is better than leaving three teams with bad news.

    Michelle Brooks: When is cricket going to get a roof in this Country?

    Gordon: It's the 3rd October! Why didn't they play the finals in the UAE?

    Surrey v Gloucestershire 11:00 BST - Start Delayed

    If anything, the rain has got worse.

    The pitch inspection has been pushed back. It doesn't look great.

    If you need your cricket fix, 5 Live Sports Extra are streaming some IPL action. Jos Buttler is looking good for Rajasthan Royals.

    Surrey v Gloucestershire 11:00 BST

    It's not looking good as the toss for our first semi-final is delayed.

    Only light drizzle at the moment but the outfield is very, very wet.

    There'll be an inspection at 11:00 BST. Live Text commentary will follow when there's news of play.

    In the mean time, 5 Live Sports Extra are on air as planned from 10:45.
