    Glamorgan 23-3 v Sussex

    Three wickets for Sussex now.

Ollie Robinson adds a second to send Ireland international Andrew Balbirnie to the dressing room for four.

New man in Billy Root never looks comfortable and is dismissed for one by Henry Crocombe in the next over.

  2. wicket

WICKET Cook (lbw Rushworth) 6published at 11:35 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Essex 15-3 v Durham

We said Alastair Cook would likely prove a key man for Essex but, after making scores of just 15 and 12 in round one, he's fallen for six in round two.

Chris Rushworth claims his second wicket, trapping Cook in front, and has figures of 2-5 from his first four overs.

Dan Lawrence, who showed some very promising flashes for England during the winter tours of Sri Lanka and India, is the next man in.

    Nottinghamshire 10-0 v Warwickshire

    Olly StoneImage source, Rex Features

It's been a really stingy first half an hour or so from the Warwickshire opening bowlers, with Oliver Hannon-Dalby and England quick Olly Stone keeping things very tight.

Nottinghamshire are 10-0 after seven overs.

  4. 50 runs

50 up for Yorkshirepublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Kent v Yorkshire 50-1

I thought Kent's wicket might slow the visitors down a bit. Yorkshire have proven me wrong though.

They've raced to 50 inside seven overs with former England opener Adam Lyth comfortable on 34 from 24 deliveries.

  5. Postpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Derbyshire 26-1 v Worcestershire

Derbyshire lost Luis Reece inside the opening over but are rebuilding well against Worcestershire, with Leus du Plooy (18 not out) looking in decent touch already.

He's struck three boundaries and is being ably supported by Billy Godleman.

  6. Postpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Lancashire 6-0 v Northamptonshire

Five overs and six runs with no chances to report.

Not a classic so far at Old Trafford.

  7. Postpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Kent v Yorkshire 28-1

I was just about to post that it's been advantage batsman at Canterbury with Yorkshire 28-0 after four overs.

But opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore has just fallen off the bowling of Darren Stevens for 14. He'd already struck three boundaries.

It's also probably time for your weekly reminder that Stevens is 44 and will be celebrating his 45th birthday at the end of the month. You never lose it.

  8. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Essex 7-2 v Durham

An iffy start has turned into an even worse one for Essex at Durham, with former England batsman Tom Westley - fresh from his 213 last week - dismissed for four.

Another former England man, Alastair Cook, remains unbeaten on three and is already looking likely to be a key man for the Chelmsford side here.

  9. Postpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Somerset 11-1 v Gloucestershire

Having made five and naught in the first-round victory over Middlesex, Tom Lammonby has endured another disappointing start against Gloucestershire.

The Somerset man has edged Ryan Higgins into the slips for a duck.

His opening partner Tom Banton is showing plenty of intent, though, with the England white-ball international already playing a couple of attacking strokes in the opening four overs - including one lovely straight drive four.

  10. Postpublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Glamorgan 0-1 v Sussex

So the first wicket of the day goes to Chris Rushworth after three balls.

Sussex's Ollie Robinson could only do it in four. Glamorgan are 0-1, with Robinson trapping Nick Selman for a duck.

  12. wicket

WICKET Browne (b Rushworth) 0published at 11:04 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Essex 0-1 v Durham

Not the start Essex and Nick Browne would've wanted, this!

Experienced seamer Chris Rushworth has bowled opener Browne with the third ball of the match.

Essex are 0-1 inside the first over.

    Let's do this.

  14. Today's weather...published at 10:57 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

A quick look at the weather before we begin.

We're hopefully in for a mostly uninterrupted day of cricket, although looking at the map below the matches at Surrey, Kent and Essex may be hit by a few showers as the day goes on.

Graeme van Buuren of Gloucestershire (r) celebrates reaching his century with Chris Dent of GloucestershireImage source, Getty Images

There were plenty of fireworks last week.

A monumental first innings score of 612/5d, built on the back of James Vince's mammoth double century, saw Hampshire thrash Leicestershire by an innings.

Gloucestershire's Chris Dent (91 not out) and Graeme van Buuren (110 not out) smashed 193 runs in under 30 overs to grab an unlikely victory over Surrey.

A day after National Sibling Day, Billy beat Joe in the battle of the Roots, scoring a hundred of his brother's bowling in Glamorgan's draw with Yorkshire.

And Somerset fought back from 89/9 in the first innings to claim a remarkable four-wicket win.

And just like that, suddenly it's round two.

Will we see more batsman over the age of 40 hitting centuries? Will part-time bowlers continue to take big scalps?

And how about those on the fringes of England selection?

Plenty of storylines this week. Play is due to begin in the next 15 minutes.
