  1. MATCH ABANDONEDpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 28 July 2021

    Well, that didn't take long.

The outfield at Old Trafford now resembles more of a swimming pool than cricket pitch so there will be no play in the women's fixture. Both teams will take a point each.

We'll be back later to bring you the latest on the men's fixture and whether the rain has cleared.

    Bye for now!

We're going to park this live for now as there doesn't seem to be any sign of action soon. But we'll be back with updates as soon as we have them.

Fingers crossed for some cricket at some point!

It's still hammering down and the thunder rumbles on. I can see a group of spectators huddled under the hotel on the far side of the ground - a wise move. It's horrible.

Manchester Originals will want to get going, as they really need a win - they've lost their two opening games whereas the Superchargers are sitting at the top of the table having won their two.

Jemimah Rodrigues has been their star performer - she hit 60 in their last outing against the Trent Rockets and this magnificent 92 not out in their first game against Welsh Fire.

She's also topping the Most Valuable Player rankings in the women's competition at this stage.

It looks inevitable that we're going to have a pretty long delay here so it's worth saying that the minimum that is needed in order to get a game in is 25 balls per side.

We've had thunder, lightning and heavy rain today at Old Trafford.

We had a clear half an hour until about five minutes ago when it started absolutely pouring down. The spectators that were here have gone running for cover.

    It's grim.

    Good afternoon!

We've got another double header for you today, starting with the women's competition between Manchester Originals and Northern Superchargers.

But unfortunately it's been raining heavily, the covers are on and they don't seem to be going anywhere.
