Now we're talking. Indomitable.

JC: A middle-aged legend has to be the Cameroon footballer - Roger Milla. He could score and dance.

It feels like there might be something brewing here for England.
It's not gone unnoticed that the match has hit a lull since I took over the keyboard from Amy. Brace yourself for a flurry of action later on of course...
Ben Stokes looks mobile enough out there at the minute as the batsmen reach a partnership of 75 and the trumpeter reaches Tequila in his songbook...

A very good decision by Stokes.
Ollie Pope told them in the huddle there was an inside edge and it's a good call not to review that lbw. A clear edge on the replay.
Stuart Broad is still sure that's out.
Rassie van der Dussen has a Test best of 98. He's got a long way to go to beat that this afternoon but this is a gritty, obdurate showing from the tall batter.
That's close! Stuart Broad raps RVDD on the pads but captain Ben Stokes decides not to review.

It's gone quite slow. We thought we would be celebrating some wickets here.

I came out with a brilliant post and it was ignored!! How come I have never been able to post during the cricket? Have you got something against my medium pace left-arm hostilities?
Ashley, Wrexham
Ben Stokes, dodgy knee and all, tests out Rassie van der Dussen, dodgy digits and all, with some short stuff. The batsman rather tentatively pushes it away as would you if you'd broken your finger.
South Africa only 136 behind now.

Jonny Bairstow is conducting the crowd in the party stand. I don't think there's a player who engages with fans more than YJB.
Not bad for a man with a fracture. The South African batters are digging in. Ben Stokes is going to have a bowl after all.

It's at the stage where England need to force something. The ball has gone soft now.
Poor shot, Keegan Petersen looks to pull Stuart Broad but the ball wasn't that short and he plays and misses. Head in hands moment for Broad.
Is that you Paul Sykes?
Stuart Broad gets loads of movement but it's all after the batsman, Ben Foakes does well to get to that one. Ben Stokes is warming up, time for a captain's over or three?

I am 72 and played full contact rugby until 61, played league squash until 68 and now just run, cycle, rock climb and sail my dinghy.

England striving for wickets and haven't found any since lunch. It would seem England were on course for an innings victory at the start of the game.
A patience game for all involved at Old Trafford the moment. When you've had your first pint pre 11am time is very much a factor as well.
Stuart Broad is going to have a go.

It's a patience game for van der Dussen and Petersen. Time is as important to them as runs.
