This is why New Zealand are so good. They just keep coming back at you and Glenn Phillips is leading the way.

It's been a good innings by Phillips. He has steadied the ship.
50 for Glenn Phillips
NZ 89-3
Salt, meet wounds.
The next ball flies away for four more and Phillips brings up a brilliant counter-attacking fifty.
Phillips dropped on 45
NZ 86-3
Oh, you definitely don't drop him twice!
Although, this one's much harder. Dasun Shanaka sprints in from the boundary as Phillips tries to hit over the top, has to dive to get there but it slips under his hands.
They run two, to make it worse.
NZ 80-3
Shot!
Phillips thrashes Karunaratne's first ball through the covers for four. Pressure on the bowler.

Yeah. Don't drop Glenn Phillips.

Wanindu Hasaranga is so much fun.
One of his variations is to almost sling the ball at the batter with his arm really wide, like he's impersonating an aeroplane. Just need him to make some "whoosh" noises to complete the look.
Glenn Phillips takes a single from it but looks completely baffled.

New Zealand will be watching this thinking there's a lot of slower balls. These are gripping in the surface and making it a little more difficult.
NZ 70-3
The errors are just creeping in for Sri Lanka now. For some reason, there are plenty of fumbles from balls that are going straight to fielders and it's allowing Mitchell and Phillips to come back for two every time.
But Karunaratne closes the over well with a slower ball, deceiving Phillips and drawing a loud "Oh, wow!" from the batter.

Got to take your catches, lads.

I think it'll get easier to bat now the ball is softer. That ball is gripping in the surface.
NZ 62-3
A handy little partnership is building for New Zealand, as Sri Lanka are just letting their brilliant start go a little with a few misfields.
Nine from the over.

New Zealand were in a spot of bother. Instead a catch has been dropped, we've had no-balls and free hits which has helped recover the innings.
NZ 54-3
Karunaratne closes out the over perfectly with two dot balls, the change of pace deceiving Phillips.
Halfway through the innings and they've recovered nicely from the three early wickets.

We have a six at last!
NZ 54-3
First of the day!
Too short from Chamika Karunaratne and Glenn Phillips helps it on its way into the stands.
A decent way to bring up New Zealand's fifty.

It just looks like there's a little bit in this wicket. Everyone is struggling to get clean striking on the ball.
NZ 45-3
Hasaranga, with a hint of swagger, pulls it back for Sri Lanka with just three from his over.

It's all going wrong for Sri Lanka.
