Stephan Shemilt and Callum Matthews

All times stated are UK

  1. NZ 126-4

    Target 180

Daryl Mitchell is the new man. He knocked England out of the World Cup last year and got a ton of runs in the Tests last summer. England will be sick of seeing him.

Brilliant from Wood in that over. Only three runs and a wicket.

    Ravi Bopara

Former England all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

Sometimes you just have to assess the situation a bit. If Neesham had got through that over, he'd have had the short leg side boundary to attack in the next.

  3. WICKET

    Neesham c Curran b Wood 6 (NZ 126-4)

    Safe hands!

Jimmy Neesham tries to take on the pace of Mark Wood but only finds the buckets of Sam Curran at deep mid-wicket. Curran is fired up, revving up the crowd.

England taking crucial wickets at the right time.

  4. NZ 126-3

    Target 180

There are four overs after this. Two from Curran, one from Wood. Who else? Stokes? Woakes hasn't been seen since the fourth over.

    Ravi Bopara

It's the boundaries they need, Williamson was just not finding the boundary.

  6. NZ 123-3

    Target 180

Mark Wood. He's been expensive so far.

    57 from 29.

  7. NZ 123-3

    Target 180

57 from 30 balls. Very doable.

    What a shot first ball!

  9. NZ 123-3

    Target 180

Jimmy Neesham pulls his first ball for four.

It's not like he has score to settle with England.

The worm shows New Zealand are two runs behind England. New Zealand are 123 for 3 after 15 overs. At the same stage England were 125 for 2.

    Ravi Bopara

I don't know if that is a good thing for New Zealand or not. It does mean they can bring in more powerful guys, who might find the boundary more often.

Still, wickets do bring the scoring rate down.

Williamson goes, Stokes gets a vital breakthrough for England.

    Ben Stokes celebrates
  12. WICKET

    Williamson c Rashid b Stokes 40 (NZ 119-3)

    Ben Stokes has done it!

It's not Glenn Phillips, but getting Kane Williamson is something. Cut to Adil Rashid at backward point.

    Something finally goes England's way.

  13. NZ 114-2

    Target 180

Ben Stokes is bowling. If England want him to turn water into wine, they better turn the tap on.

  14. Post update

    Ravi Bopara

Former England all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

There are two betters teams playing, that's why!

  15. Post update

    Quentin Hull

Commentator on BBC Test Match Special

Better atmosphere at the Gabba than there was for the Australia game last night.

  16. NZ 113-2

    Target 180

By the way, I do know that a lot of these entries have the 'six' graphic next to them. I don't know how that happened, because most shouldn't be there.

Unless there actually was a six.

    You know what I mean.

    Ravi Bopara

Unbelievable innings from Phillips to follow up his hundred in the last game.

  18. 50 for Glenn Phillips

    NZ 112-2

Glenn Phillips is doing it again. Fifty from 25 balls. What is going through Moeen Ali's mind?
