The thing Birmingham Phoenix will be concerned about will be the wickets. They need to ensure these two really build a partnership.

  2. Phoenix 42-5published at 50 balls left

    Target 123

Ellie Threlkeld struggled with the bat earlier, only scoring four from her eight balls, but she's having an absolute blinder behind the stumps at the moment.

Phoebe Graham beats the outside edge of Georgia Elwiss but Threlkeld brilliantly gathers again. There is some pace and bounce in this pitch.

Elwiss picked up the length really early there. We just need some sensible, intelligent batting from the Phoenix here on.

  4. Phoenix 38-5published at 55 balls left

    Target 123

Hmmm interesting. Kate Cross decides to take Phoebe Graham off but sticks with pace in the shape of Grace Potts.

Interesting call considering how well spin has done so far with Sophie Ecclestone and Hannah Jones. They've still got Emma Lamb and Erin Burns who can bowl off-spin too.

Potts twice drops short and Georgia Elwiss and Issy Wong are both able to pull away for a boundary apiece.

That's a little pressure reliever. Phoenix need 85 runs from 55 balls.

  5. Phoenix 27-5published at 60 balls left

    Target 123

    My days. Try playing that.

Sophie Ecclestone pitches one on middle/leg stump and she finds turn and bounce to beat the defence of Issy Wong and it evades the top of off stump.

    Some delivery that.

  6. Postpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 28 August 2022

Sophie Ecclestone added 20 off 14 balls at the end of the Originals innings.

How important could those runs prove to be?

  7. Phoenix 22-5published at 65 balls left

Sophie Ecclestone only concedes one single from her second set of five balls.

That means she has figures of 2-2 from her first 10 balls.

She's going to bowl another set of five.

Another one goes, it's another huge wicket. There was enough doubt to have a look but Sophie Molineux was prepared to walk.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 67 balls left

    Molineux lbw b Ecclestone 3 (Phoenix 22-5)

    Another one!

Sophie Molineux looks to move around in her crease, to give herself room to work the ball into the leg side, but she just misses a straight ball from England left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone.

Molineux has a chat with Georgia Elwiss, but she's convinced it is out and ignores her mate, who tries to signal for the review for her.

    Originals are massive favourites now.

  10. Phoenix 20-4published at 70 balls left

Sophie Molineux has been joined by Georgia Elwiss now for Birmingham Phoenix. These two desperately need to build a partnership and take this game deep for the hosts.

Originals were 49-0 at this point.

Just as we said there's a lot of pressure on her, the Aussie all-rounder is dismissed.

What a take that was behind the stumps! That's a brilliant catch.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 72 balls left

    Perry c Threlkeld b Graham 5 (Phoenix 20-4)

    Brilliant from Ellie Threlkeld!

The Originals keeper only came up to the stumps for this delivery after a leg-side wide from debutant Phoebe Graham.

There is a little bit of extra bounce as Ellyse Perry looks to cut away and it takes a thick edge off the bottom of the bat and Threlkeld's hands are quick to move up to her right. It is a great grab.

Originals are well and truly on top.

The Originals are right on top here. Perry has got a massive role to play.

  14. Phoenix 15-3published at 75 balls left

    Target 123

It's double Australia in the middle for Birmingham Phoenix now as left-hander Sophie Molineux joins Ellyse Perry.

She's up and running with a lesser-seen two.

That is the end of the 25-ball powerplay and it equals the worst in the tournament so far.

Captain Cross is leading the way here. Two wickets in her first six balls, the pressure is right on to the Phoenix.

  16. wicket

    Devine lbw b Cross 4 (Phoenix 12-3)

    Firmly hitting leg stump!

Manchester Originals are all over Birmingham Phoenix here.

Sophie Devine shuffled slightly outside the off stump to allow her to hit over the leg side, but she is unable to connect with the shot and Kate Cross' line was perfect.

Phoenix need a partnership and quick.

    There's no bat...

  18. Phoenix reviewpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 28 August 2022

Oh! Sophie Devine has been given out lbw as Kate Cross returns.

Devine decides to review pretty quickly.

It looked pretty good to me.

  19. Phoenix 12-2published at 80 balls left

    Target 123

Lovely start from Sophie Ecclestone as she concedes just one run from her first five balls.

Ellyse Perry does like to give herself time before catching up and improving her strike-rate as the innings goes on but she won't want to build too much pressure here.

You'd not be looking at a better pair to get you out of trouble - Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry.
