  1. Spirit 20-3published at 70 balls left

    Target 83

Charlie Dean and Sophie Luff just keep the score moving along with plenty of singles, which is exactly what they need.

It's all they needed to do from the start really, but for some reason it just wasn't that simple.

Birmingham Phoenix have such narrow margin for error and cannot give those extra runs away.

  3. Spirit 15-3published at 75 balls left

Issy Wong starts with a wide, that also beats Amy Jones and runs away to the boundary.

That is precious for London Spirit. Five runs without the batter even having to hit the ball.

  5. Spirit 11-3published at 75 balls left

    Target 83

    That concludes the powerplay.

What an absolutely bonkers game this is.

  6. Spirit 10-3published at 78 balls left

Sophie Luff whacks Kirstie Gordon for a lovely boundary to just calm a few Spirit nerves.

This is perfectly placed for a Sophie Luff innings. She is a calm, experienced player who isn't necessarily a big hitter, but can score at a run a ball comfortably - bit like a Joe Root, where you look up and she's already on 20 without breaking sweat.

Spirit will certainly need that today.

The batting has not been great from both teams.

But, the fielding has been absolutely phenomenal.

  8. Spirit 6-3published at 80 balls left

    Target 83

Something is happening every ball at the moment. Who'd have thought all this would be going on in a chase of 83?

    Cricket is mad, isn't it?

  9. dropped catch

Dean dropped on 4published at 82 balls left

    Spirit 6-3

    It's nearly four down!!

Charlie Dean prods uncertainly at the ball from Georgia Elwiss, and the ball plops up just to Elwiss' left as she's following through.

She gets two hands to it but it bobbles out as she hits the ground! Tough chance, but Dean gets a life!

    It's all going on!

  10. Spirit 6-3published at 83 balls left

    Target 83

A very welcome boundary for the captain Charlie Dean, edging one unconvincingly past the keeper.

They'll take every run they can get right now!

It doesn't look great for the London Spirit's at the moment.

  12. Spirit 2-3published at 85 balls left

    Target 83

A brilliant start from Emily Arlott. Five balls, no runs conceded and the big wicket of Amelia Kerr.

Spirit are only chasing 83, so the game isn't done and dusted. But wow, what a turnaround.

This is a superb all round fielding by the Phoenix. This is an extraordinary start!

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 89 balls left

    Kerr c E Jones b Arlott 0 (Spirit 2-3)

    What is going on?!?!

Amelia Kerr plays a rather unnecessary shot, trying to whack Emily Arlott over the leg side but it lands safely in the hands of Eve Jones, taking a good catch running in from the boundary.

Who said chasing 83 would be easy?!

  15. Spirit 2-2published at 90 balls left

    Target 83

    And breathe.

    An absolutely manic 10 balls!

A big wicket of Mooney and wow! This is how you win impossible games.

Birmingham Phoenix might not be winning with the runs, but they might be winning with the fielding.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 92 balls left

Mooney run out Devine 1 (Spirit 2-2)

    HUGE wicket!

Sophie Devine is turning the game. It's a risky single as Mooney struck the ball straight at her, and she doesn't hesitate in throwing down the stumps with the batter short of her crease.

It's getting tense for London Spirit! They're only chasing 83!

  19. Umpire reviewpublished at 92 balls left

Oh it's absolute chaos! Has Beth Mooney been run out? It looks very close...

Brilliantly taken and what a catch that is. An absolutely stunning catch by Devine!
