The great British summer strikes again.

The ground staff worked so hard today across all four matches but there's very little they could have done.

To see how things currently stand in the men's Hundred, take a look at the table here.

  3. Match abandonedpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    And there it is.

Unfortunately, it's four out of four games rained off today.

The teams will take a point each.

Trent Rockets captain Andy Flower and captain Lewis Gregory are out in the middle with the match officials and ground staff.

The umbrellas are still up and the body language isn't great. I can't lip read but there's a lot of head shaking and shrugs going on.

Throughout the 2023 Hundred, BBC Sport is running a feature series called England Next Gen, designed to look at players who may make the step up to international cricket in the next few years.

Next up is Trent Rockets and Hampshire fast bowler John Turner, who could be in action tonight if the rain allows.

During an impressive campaign in the T20 Blast for Hampshire Hawks, Turner bagged 21 wickets at an average of 11.76 and an economy of 6.67 - the best of anyone who had bowled more than 10 overs in the competition.

There have even been comparisons made to Australia great Glenn McGrath - read more about Turner here.

I had just started to type that the match officials are out in the middle with their umbrellas down, which was looking hopeful...

But seconds later, the rain starts again and the umbrellas are back up.

    Sigh.

It looks like it may have stopped raining at Edgbaston but because of the amount of rain that has fallen, there is going to be a pretty big clear-up operation required.

We'll bring you news from the pitch inspection as soon as we have it.

  8. How to followpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

  9. Toss delayed - inspection at 18:00 BSTpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

And the latest from Edgbaston is that the toss for Birmingham Phoenix v Trent Rockets has been delayed, but there will be a pitch inspection at 18:00 BST.

It is drizzling lightly at the moment.

  10. Welcomepublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Right, let's try again!

All three Hundred games today have fallen victim to the weather - both women's games called off without a ball bowled, while Manchester Originals v London Spirit in the men's competition managed 80 balls of play.
