All times stated are UK

  1. Rew shows his class

    Kent 284 v Somerset 314-6

James Rew clips Joey Evison over mid-wicket for six - magnificent shot from the youngster!

Shades of David Gower and Brian Lara in that shot from the left-hander.

The 20-year-old has a very bright future ahead of him.

  2. Sussex sail past 300

    Sussex 308-6 v Northants 371

Luke Procter brings Justin Broad in to bowl...

Shot! Danny Lamb takes Sussex past 300 with a dainty scoop over the keeper for four.

Single to Lamb down to fine leg.

Broad pushes the ball out wide to Fynn Hudson-Prentice, who smashes the ball down the ground for four. That's a 50 partnership in 48 balls.

  3. Post update

    Kent 284 v Somerset 307-6

James Rew and Kasey Aldridge have added 52 for the seventh wicket for Somerset.

The shadows are lengthening at Canterbury, but there's every chance we'll get the final nine overs in before the light fades completely.

  4. Post update

    Sussex 299-6 v Northants 371

Danny Lamb sweeps Rob Keogh firmly to square leg but Saif Zaib at deep backward square will keep it to one.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice switch hits square for one more.

The Northants lead is diminishing rapidly and one ball after missing an attempted ramp shot, Lamb chips the ball safely down the ground for one.

Four more drilled down the ground by Hudson-Prentice.

The lead is down to 72.

  5. Dropped catch

    Middlesex 453-5 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

    But is that a drop?

Yes it is, Josh de Caires goes back to Colin Ingram's leg-breaks and gets a firm edge.

But the ball bounces out of Chris Cooke's gloves. That would have been a nice finish to the day for Glamorgan if that had stuck.

  6. 'Somerset wickets have dried up'

    Kent 284 v Somerset 304-6

    Rita Green

    BBC Radio Kent

The wickets have dried up from a Somerset perspective.

  7. Post update

    Middlesex 453-5 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

    Four overs to go today.

Middlesex are only 18 behind the follow-on target, but they don't seem in an awful hurry to get there tonight.

Ryan Higgins and Josh de Caires seem content to defend and pick up the odd single.

  8. up for Somerset

    Kent 284 v Somerset 300-6

Into the final 11 scheduled overs of the day at Canterbury, where Somerset have secured a second batting point with a thick edge through the gully area for four off the bat of James Rew.

  9. Lamb goes big

    Sussex 290-6 v Northants 371

Saif Zaib drops short and Danny Lamb slog sweeps high over mid wicket for a maximum.

He's cross with himself for missing out on another short one, which he cloths leg side for one.

A full toss to Hudson-Prentice is lofted over long on for four.

Two more fours in the next two balls! HP lofts drives down the ground and then down to long on.

    19 runs off the over!

  10. Close of play at Trent Bridge

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 329-8

Bad light leads to rain which leads to the close of play.

Essex will resume tomorrow morning with a lead of 289 runs with two wickets left.

  11. Post update

    Middlesex 450-5 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

Josh de Caires is now out into the middle with Ryan Higgins and he hits an excellent back-foot cover drive to the fence.

Then Higgins gets a single and that brings up the side's 450. But it has taken 141 overs.

To get five batting points, teams need to do it inside 110 overs. As it was, Middlesex claimed two points.

  12. Post update

    Kent 284 v Somerset 293-6

Four more gorgeous runs for Somerset off the bat of Kasey Aldridge, who shows the bowler the maker's name with a superb straight drive.

One of the shots of the day.

  13. Close of play at Edgbaston

    Warwks 333 v Worcs 360 & 237-2

Kashif Ali plays a pull shot

The rain has finally stopped this game in its tracks with the Pears in the ascendency thanks to a magnificent century from Kashif Ali - his second of the match and indeed of his career no less.

Jake Libby will resume tomorrow, weather permitting, on 75 not out.

  14. Post update

    Sussex 269-6 v Northants 371

Sussex are looking busy here - and don't completely rule out a bold declaration tonight or early tomorrow.

Though the light may get in the way as it appears to be fading.

Zaib flights the last ball down the leg side and Lamb keeps the strike with an easy single.

  15. Somerset into the lead

    Kent 284 v Somerset 287-6

James Rew smashes a straight drive back at bowler Joey Evison and it screams away to the sightscreen for four.

There was a half-chance of a catch but, to be fair to Evison, it was almost past him before he had time to react.

That boundary puts Somerset into the lead.

  16. Post update

    Sussex 268-6 v Northants 371

Can Northants nip another one out before the new ball?

Danny Lamb is down the track on the drive and Ben Sanderson picks that up just inside the rope the keep it to two.

Lamb is beaten outside off next ball and pulls the fifth ball square for a single.

  17. Post update

    Sussex 264-6 v Northants 371

Danny Lamb survives an lbw shout and Rob Keogh keeps the pressure on with an over costing just a single.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice takes a single off Saif Zaib at the other end and Lamb has his first runs with two to fine leg.

Zaib fires in a full toss and Lamb takes an easy two to fine leg.

The new ball is available in nine overs.

  18. 'Zaib's best Championship bowling figures since 2017'

    Sussex 260-6 v Northants 371

    Andrew Radd

    BBC Radio Northampton

These are now Saif Zaib's best Championship bowling figures since 2017.

But he hasn't taken more than two wickets in an innings since 2017.

  19. Post update

    Middlesex 444-5 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

This is Mir Hamza's first game for Glamorgan and the Pakistan left-armer will be remembering that County Championship cricket can be pretty hard.

He has bowled 25 overs and taken 1-74, but with five Middlesex wickets still to take, there is more work to do yet!

    Notts celebrate a wicket

Dave: Good day's play at Trent Bridge. Gut feeling says that 140 partnership between Walter and Critchley has swung balance Essex's way. But we're still in it. Come on Notts.
