    England 2-1 Colombia

There are a slew of highlights from England's win on the highlights tab above these words.

Alistair Magowan's report from the scene is up on the BBC Sport website.

That is my signal to log off and tune out.

Thanks for your company and see you later.

  2. Later today

    England 2-1 Colombia

Just two matches remain in the group stages, and both of those will be done and dusted in the early hours of this morning.

Costa Rica play Brazil out in Moncton while South Korea and Spain meet in Ottawa.

Brazil are already through to the last 16. The rest could finish in any order behind them.

The Game: What a goal by Henry for France. An absolute worldy and I'm not talking about Thierry...

If you haven't seen it, see it in the highlights later on. Amandine Henry's long-range swerver was the stand-out strike of France's five against Mexico.

    England players applaud

After playing their first two group games out east in Moncton, England don't have far to travel for their last-16 clash.

Had they won Group F they would have stayed right in Montreal. As it is they have a couple of hours drive to relocate to Ottawa for Wednesday's meeting with Norway.

    Barely worth changing hotels...

  7. Last 16

    England 2-1 Colombia

The last 16 is starting to take shape now. This is what we have got so far:

    China v Cameroon

    Brazil v Australia

    Norway v England

    Canada v Switzerland

Japan, France, Germany and United States are through, but still waiting to see who they will play.

  8. 'Another good team performance'

    England 2-1 Colombia

    Mark Sampson

England manager Mark Sampson: "Congratulations to the team. It was a game of two halves and we deserved more than what we got. We showed good character and maturity to see the game off in the second half.

"Colombia never really got behind us and apart from the goal, we managed them well. Overall another good team performance."

  9. Post update

    England 2-1 Colombia

    Liverpool striker Natasha Dowie

    BBC Sport

"I have been really impressed by Norway but England will be confident. The girls came into this World Cup stating that they want to win it, and this is the knockout stage now, it's exciting. Over each game so far the performances have been improving and hopefully that will be taken into the Norway game."

  10. Post update

    England 2-1 Colombia

    Former England midfielder Rachel Yankey

    BBC Sport

"We started really well and put them on the back foot, in the second half changed the system a little bit, changed the game with substitutes but the form did dip a little and it wasn't as vibrant as we wanted to see.

"It was a bit disappointing to concede, although they keep changing so there's not a lot of consistency with the defence. I'm not sure Karen Bardsley could do much more about the goal but it is disappointing from an England point of view that we've let in another goal.

"There were a few injury concerns but I don't think the substitutions were made because players were injured more to get everyone on so everyone feels valued."

  11. Post update

    England 2-1 Colombia

    Alistair Magowan

    BBC Sport in Montreal

"Jodie Taylor's appearance as a second-half substitute now means that Mark Sampson has used all 20 of his outfield players in the first three group games. After recovering from a recent knee operation, this is vital playing time for Taylor."

  12. Post update

    England 2-1 Colombia

    Liverpool striker Natasha Dowie

    BBC Sport

"It was tough for England in the second half. With the changes in formation and substitutions it was a case of whether they were happy with second in the group or whether they wanted to go on and score more, to push for first.

"Everyone's got minutes on the pitch and everyone's fresh. I'm really looking forward to the Norway game though - that will be a really tough one."

  13. Post update

    England 2-1 Colombia

    Opta

First half good, second half not so good.

England shaded it before the interval, but it was a bit "backs to the wall" in the second half.

A tight contest all in all.

  14. Post update

    England 2-1 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

Let's gloss over that late defensive blemish.

    Norway. Monday. 22:00 BST.

England are through to the last 16.

  18. Post update

    England 2-1 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

    BBC Radio 5 live

"I was about to say how fantastic it would be for England to get their first clean sheet at the tournament. Alex Greenwood has to cover back for me. She was standing with her arm up waiting for the whistle. She gave Lady Andrade too much room. There will be a little bit of stoppage time for the goal and celebrations..."

  19. GOAL

    England 2-1 Colombia - Andrade

    Surely not?

Another goal for Colombia would leave England third and waiting on a lucky loser spot.

Lady Andrade lifts over a cute finish to set up a nervy final few seconds.

  20. Post update

  24. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

Lady Andrade produces a disappointing cross and that is Karen Bardsley's all day.

The England goalkeeper eats up another few second as she takes her time over a clearance upfield.

  25. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

Lianne Sanderson warms Sandra Sepulveda's palms with a meaty hit from a tight angle. Just three minutes to go and play is exactly where England coach Mark Sampson wants it.

  26. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

    BBC Radio 5 live

"Jodie Taylor showed good pace to get to the ball but from a goalkeeper's perspective you don't want to be so far out from your goal. It's a bit of a rash decision. Certainly quite a few of the Colombia players have been treading a fine line."

  27. YELLOW CARD

    England 2-0 Colombia

Colombia, pressing forward, are caught miles upfield by a simple ball over the top. Jodie Taylor is chasing after it, goalkeeper Sandra Sepulveda is flying out at top speed, a real 50:50 ball.

Taylor gets a touch of the ball and Sepulveda gets only the England midfielder's shin - at least it looks that way at full speed. Watching very carefully on a replay it does seem as though the keeper just manages to kick the ball away.

The keeper is booked for her efforts.

  28. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Sue Smith

    Former England forward

"Toni Duggan has been outstanding, worked so hard for the team, making opportunities for other players. Jodie Taylor is a world class striker, someone who has vision. Got lots of experience playing in different countries so she can bring that to the game as well."

  29. SUBSTITUTION

    England 2-0 Colombia

Diana Ospina makes way for Leicy Santos as Colombia rummage around for something to change this game. Time is against them.

  30. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

    BBC Radio 5 live

"It's fantastic that Jodie Taylor is fit enough to come on for the last 10 minutes because she is a very dangerous striker. She has been coming back after knee surgery, and the target was always for her to get some minutes before the close of the group stages."

  31. SUBSTITUTION

    England 2-0 Colombia

A change for England as the impressive Toni Duggan comes off to be replaced by Jodie Taylor. This is Taylor's first game in the finals.

  32. Join the debate at #bbcfootball

  33. GOAL

    Mexico 0-5 France - Henry

    Oh my.

A sublime strike from Amandine Henry - sweet as a nut off her instep from 25 yards and swerving into the top corner past a helpless goalkeeper.

France are now two goals better off than England at the top of the table and probably have Group F in the bag.

  34. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Opta

In the last 15 minutes, it is Colombia who have clearly had the upper hand with more than a third of the play in England's defensive third.

  35. SUBSTITUTION

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Colombia's Yoreli Rincon

A change for Colombia and it is a surprising one. The dangerous Yoreli Rincon, apparently uninjured, jogs off to allow Tatiana Ariza to come on.

Jonathan Verity: England just need to keep possession and slow this down.

Jeffrey Yeung: A slight hint of the England men's team's style creeping in, slightly concerning. Need to settle down and find some composure.

Ian: Not sure about bringing off Fran Kirby. Seem to be slowly withdrawing into our shell. A Colombia goal now makes it very tense...

  37. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

That was more like it from England and Lianne Sanderson, on as a sub, swipes thin air with a clear sight of goal.

Jordan Nobbs low cross made its way through to her rather unexpectedly and Sanderson missed the ball entirely from 14 yards.

  38. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

A dangerous cross from Diana Ospina on the England left, punched clear by Karen Bardsley.

England need to get their mojo back. This game is slipping into a pattern of Colombia pressure and England passivity.

  39. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Sue Smith

    Former England forward

"England are not as much on the front front, we are playing sideways, we need to go for more goals."

  40. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

    BBC Radio 5 live

    England coach Mark Sampson

"England need to maintain a good defensive discipline, because we have seen what this Colombia team can do and they have the momentum at the moment. It's positive that Mark Sampson has made a few changes but it's possibly just taking a few minutes for his instructions to be fed through the side.

"I never thought it would be a stress-free second half."

  41. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

Carolina Arias is walking a tightrope.

The Colombia defender was booked for the handball that gave away the penalty for England second, but is throwing herself into tackles like a woman with a clean slate.

She flattens Steph Houghton with a sliding tackle that gets only a tiny bit of ball, if any, but escapes further punishement.

  42. SUBSTITUTION

    England 2-0 Colombia

Jo Potter is on, but it is in place of striker Fran Kirby instead of the struggling Casey Stoney.

Potter will slot into midfield and try and give the England defence more protection. Colombia have been making the running in the second half.

  43. YELLOW CARD

    England 2-0 Colombia

Alex Scott goes into the book for getting a little too much of a Colombia players' shirt.

  44. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

Casey Stoney goes down with a muscle pull. Colombia reluctantly put the ball out of play so she can get treatment.

The cat-calls come down from the stands, but it is a genuine injury. She is struggling and may need to come off. Jo Potter would be the likeliest candidate.

  45. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

    BBC Radio 5 live

"Colombia were absolutely itching to get the ball moving again from the free-kick. It's a good thing Yoreli Rincon's shot was high because it caught England off guard. They were looking for a chance to slow the game down."

  46. Join the debate at #bbcfootball

Tom Sampson: Just a thought - what if female refs referee the men's football. Less arguments if you ask me.

James: Love team spirit of women's #ENG football team, seem to get on really well & clear positivity in the group. #ENG men's take note?

Ian: England looking a bit desperate in defence. Really need a third goal.

  47. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

That is more like it from Colombia's Yoreli Rincon. She keeps it simple and direct, walloping in a shot from 25 yards that strays just high and wide. But not by much.

  48. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

Yoreli Rincon with a Zidane-esque roulette double drag-back. The trick with the lowest conversion rate of any in the showboat's arsenal? England stand off and nick the ball off her with relative ease.

  49. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

    BBC Radio 5 live

    Karen Carney (right)

"Mark Sampson has already proved how important it is to rotate the squad, to keep people sharp. You just have to look at the performances of Alex Greenwood and Karen Carney to see that. Sampson's style and his tactics are a complete contrast with that of the previous manager, Hope Powell, but I do think he has proved himself. He's been very positive."

  50. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Alistair Magowan

    BBC Sport in Montreal

"Karen Carney withdrawn but she's done her job. She's not fully fit after a recent back problem so there was probably no expectation for her to play 90 minutes. Lianne Sanderson on and England change to a 4-4-2."

  51. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia - Williams

    Sue Smith

    Former England forward

"I think that's just a bit of protection for Karen Carney, they'll rest her now. Lianne will link the game up, she will hold the ball up and bring players in. She is unique and also very clinical in front of goal."

  52. SUBSTITUTION

    England 2-0 Colombia

Colombia's turn to shuffle the pack Catalina Usme makes way for Ingrid Vidal.

No relation to the Ferrari-crashing Chile midfielder.

  53. SUBSTITUTION

    England 2-0 Colombia

Lianne Sanderson is on. Karen Carney makes way in England's first change.

  54. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

Fran Kirby breaks towards the Colombia defence, Karen Carney makes a darting run in behind, but the pass comes half a second too late and is blocked by an outstretched defending foot.

Carney looks distinctly frustrated before remembering to applaud Kirby.

  55. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Sue Smith

    Former England forward

"I think we might be seeing striker Lianne Sanderson coming on soon, she's warming up vigorously."

  56. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

Alex Scott breaking up from full-back, picked out by a clever pass, is staring right into the whites of the goalkeeper's eyes.

But the effort to get there has taken its toll and she leans back as she attempts to finish, blazing over the top.

  57. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

Colombia have started brightly as well. Lady Andrade is twisting and teasing, but England wisely stand off her and jockey for position.

A shot from Natalia Gaitan is blocked as Colombia are frustrated in their search for a way through.

  58. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

    BBC Radio 5 live

"It's been a lively start from England, it's been more of the same. Karen Bardsley is just being hurried along by the referee as she delays her goal-kick, but that's a bit of game management. Slowing the game down at times is all part of being a goalkeeper, even at such an early stage of the second half."

  59. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

England goalkeeper Karen Bardsley saunters over to collect the ball for a goal-kick. She is taking a little longer than the referee would like and gets a gentle warning for time-wasting.

It is a little early for that surely?

    England 2-0 Colombia

We are back up and running. England are 45 minutes away from the last 16.

  63. Post update

No changes for England. Steph Houghton looks to have recovered from the twinge that she suffered at the end of the first half.

  64. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia - Williams

    Former England midfielder Rachel Yankey

    BBC Sport

"England need to push on more of the same, rest players if we need to and get some of the others who haven't had a go on to the pitch."

  65. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

England trot back out for the second half. Plenty of high fives and encouragement being exchanged between the players.

    Colombia look less buoyant.

  66. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Former England midfielder Rachel Yankey

    BBC Sport

"This is the England we wanted to see. It's fantastic, we are so positive, everyone wants to get back, everyone wants to defend.

"We were disappointed in the France game but this has really shot us up. Everyone back home wants to see us playing in this sort of spirit."

  67. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

England, and Jordan Nobbs in particular, are making headway down the right wing.

Nobbs has had more touches (34), made more passes in total (25) and in the Colombia half (15) than any other England player.

The Arsenal Ladies player's touchmap shows she has been getting up and down, bringing some attacking pressure to bear, as well as defending.

    Women's World Cup

After failing to score in all three games in 2011, their first World Cup appearance, Colombia have now netted three goals in two appearances this year. There could be twists to come in the second half.

  69. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Liverpool striker Natasha Dowie

    BBC Sport

"England went 2-0 up through Fara William's spot-kick but for me it was never a penalty, I think it was a harsh handball decision. How could she get out of the way? If it had been the other way round, we'd be saying how hard done by England were. Williams practices her penalties every day. She is always confident.

"For Colombia, Lady Andrade, well, her feet are just out of this world. If they want to get back into this game, they have to get her on the ball more."

    BBC Sport in Montreal

"Sizzling end to the half as the Colombian fans boo the referee for not penalising Karen Bardsley for her collision with Carolina Arias. It was a very good save and it looked like the England goalkeeper's momentum just took her into her opponent. Apart from that, a very good half for England."

  72. Post update

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Liverpool striker Natasha Dowie

    BBC Sport

"A great first half by England. They are winning the first balls, the second balls, they have simply stopped Colombia playing. None of their star players even look like getting into this game. I've been really impressed."

    England 2-0 Colombia

    Former England winger Trevor Sinclair

  77. Post update

Colombia carve open England like the Sunday dinner, but that is brave from goalkeeper Karen Bardsley to snuff out the danger.

She came haring off her line andmanaged to make herself big in the face of Angela Clavijo as the Colombian looked to get a killer touch to bouncing ball.

Steph Houghton might have picked up a muscle strain in trying to get back.

  94. Post update

    England 1-0 Colombia

Another promising free-kick position for England after a foul on Toni Duggan out wide.

Fara Williams' delivery almost picks out Duggan but is a little too close to goalkeeper Sandra Sepulveda.

Sepulveda goes down like a sack of spuds at the merest touch from Casey Stoney in the aftermath. The referee is not buying that though and the England defender jogs back chuckling to herself at the theatrics.

  95. Post update

    England 1-0 Colombia

Fran Kirby is only five foot two inches tall. But her determination take her above the taller Colombian defenders at the back post.

She can't get over the top of her header though and the ball bounces wide.

  96. Don't miss the drama

Don't forget, we will be dropping in highlights of the key drama from tonight's action shortly after it happens.

You can watch Karen Carney's goal by clicking on the highlights tab now.

  97. Ouch!

    England 1-0 Colombia

Alex Scott bashes kneecaps in a collision with Orianica Velasquez. That looked painful, but a quick blast of cool spray - the modern magic sponge - and she is up and running.

  98. The view from the stands

    England 1-0 Colombia

Here's a pair of very happy England fans - and broadcaster Lynsey Hooper can tell you why...

  99. Post update

England are up to second in the group as it stands, behind France on goal difference.

Norway are England's last-16 opponents if it finishes up this way.

  100. Post update

    England 1-0 Colombia

England are buzzing with confidence now - zipping the ball about and making runs in behind the Colombia defence.

But this Colombia team have the individual talent to turn a game on a sixpence. Mark Sampson will want more than a one-goal cushion before he is sitting comfortably.

  101. Post update

    France 3-0 Mexico

There was a bit of a delay in getting fans into the stadium over in Ottawa, as the BBC's Caroline Rigby reports...

Let's hope they managed to get to their seats swiftly, because since then France have scored two more! They are now 3-0 up on Mexico.

  102. Post update

    England 1-0 Colombia

    Alistair Magowan

    BBC Sport in Montreal

"Colombia really struggling with England's set pieces. Arguably could be 3-0 up with better finishing but a very positive start by England which has quietened the Colombian fans here."

  103. PENALTY APPEAL

    England 1-0 Colombia

England have a penalty shout turned away! Fran Kirby on a Messi-esque dribble, her cross hits Carolina Arias on the hand - clearly - but I'm not sure she could get out of the way. Play on says the ref.

  104. Post update

    England 1-0 Colombia

    Sue Smith

    Former England forward

"Absolutely brilliant start. The Colombian goalkeeper was excellent against France but she does like to parry. A lovely cool finish from midfielder Karen Carney, it's just what England needed."

  105. Post update

    England 1-0 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

    BBC Radio 5 live

"It wasn't a bad strike from Steph Houghton on the free-kick but boy were England alert to the rebound. They have been on the front foot since kick-off and Karen Carney gets to the ball quickly. A fabulous goal."

  106. GOAL

England 1-0 Colombia - Karen Carney

    England celebrate Karen Carney's goal

    Breakthrough!

Steph Houghton's skidding free-kick from distance is awkward, but Colombia goalkeeper Sandra Sepulveda should hold it.

She doesn't and Karen Carney is onto the loose ball, firing the finish between Sepulveda's legs to add insult to injury.

  107. Post update

    England 0-0 Colombia

    Alistair Magowan

    BBC Sport in Montreal

"England have started a lot more positively compared to their two previous group games. Jordan Nobbs looking to get involved in her first World Cup game, while Fran Kirby is looking a threat already."

  108. GOAL

Mexico 0-3 France - Le Sommer

Eugenie Le Sommer, one of the bright spots in a drab campaign so far for the French, pokes in from Jessica Houara's cross.

  109. Post update

    England 0-0 Colombia

The first sight of Alex Scott bombing on from right-back and she supplies a peach of a cross, arrowing in towards the front post.

Toni Duggan is almost onto it, but a covering Colombia defender manages to divert the ball clean over the top.

  110. Post update

    England 0-0 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

    BBC Radio 5 live

"Lady Andrade has been stunning in this tournament. England are showing her respect and doubling up on her - they really need to do a good defensive job to stop her. The way to stop Colombia's individual talents is to deny them time on the ball. and it's been a really hot start from England. They are defending from the front, pressing the Colombia back four."

  111. GOAL

Mexico 0-2 France - Ruiz (OG)

France are looking to nail down their last-16 spot before the half-time oranges.

Wendie Renard's height, up from the back, causes panic in the Mexico defence and Jennifer Ruiz puts through her own net.

  112. Post update

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

    Sue Smith

    Former England forward

"Midfielder Lady Andrade is a massive player for Colombia. A crowd pleaser, one that loves the crowd, loves a trick, so Alex Scott is going to have to be on form.

"I know Mark Sampson wants his players to shoot on sight and they have to test Sandra Sepulveda in the Colombia goal."

  113. Post update

    England 0-0 Colombia

Lovely stuff from Colombia as Lady Andrade rolls her foot over the ball, feints, shimmies and then skins Jordan Nobbs on the byeline.

Her cut-back to Daniela Montoya is precise, but Montoya's shot is not. It flies well over the top and goalkeeper Karen Bardsley can wave it on its way.

That early France goal means England are third in the Group F table, but with a good enough record to get though to the last 16 as one of the third-placed teams.

Still plenty of time, twists and turns to go though.

  116. Post update

    England 0-0 Colombia

    Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis

    BBC Radio 5 live

"With all the possible permutations surrounding qualification for the last 16, it would clear things up very nicely early on if England could take this game to Colombia, straight from the whistle, and that is what I anticipate happening tonight."

  117. GOAL

    Mexico 0-1 France - Delie

France are off to a flier in Ottawa - scoring after 34 seconds.

They have had an underwhelming campaign so far, but are out of the blocks with a goal inside the first minute.

Marie Laure Delie, who was left out against England in the opening game, bundles in her 59th international goal to put Les Bleus in front.

  118. KICK-OFF

    Liverpool striker Natasha Dowie

    BBC Sport

"Colombia have some brilliant creators and goalscorers, but with Toni Duggan, Fran Kirby and Casey Stoney in their team, England can cause real problems. I really think it's going to be attack against defence today, but I'm going 3-1 for England."

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

England and Colombia stride out into the cavernous Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

It can fit 66,000 people in. Nowhere near that in tonight, but there is a healthy 6,000 odd in attendance. The majority of which are backing Colombia judging by a quick colour count and the volume of the two anthems.

  123. England in positive mood

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

    Former England forward Sue Smith

BBC Sport at Montreal's Olympic Stadium

"Key players are coming back at a good time for England. Jordan Nobbs is in for Jill Scott, who I actually think has been excellent so far, but Nobbs will offer a lot of energy, and can be clinical and pick a pass too.

"Another key position for England will be at right-back, where Alex Scott will need all her experience to deal with Colombia's Lady Andrade, who is a very talented player.

"We flew over here with the England team, and they are in a really positive mood. They are happy with the result against Mexico, when they wanted to show how attacking they could be. Tonight, they should be showing more of the same. They want to show everybody at home just how they good they are."

England forward Eniola Aluko is writing a regular column for the BBC Sport website throughout the Women's World Cup in Canada.

In her latest piece, she reflects on criticism of the standard of football played at the tournament, her inspirational team-mate Fran Kirby and looks ahead to tonight's crunch group match against Colombia.

  128. It could get Messi

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

    Fran Kirby

Fran Kirby was christened "mini Messi" by boss Mark Sampson after her jinking solo goal against Mexico.

It looks like the 21-year-old Reading striker has also picked up the Argentine's knack for soaking up punishment from cynical defenders.

"If Colombia try and kick me up, that means I'm winning so I'll give them a cheeky smile and carry on," said Kirby.

"That will probably annoy them even more but I think I'll be alright."

  129. 'Go at it from the start'

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

    Former England winger Trevor Sinclair

    BBC Sport

"I'd like to think England will start a bit better today. In the games against France and Mexico they started a bit lethargically, and there was very little urgency covering back. If they can find that from the start, it will help them get forward."

  130. Post update

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

England manager Mark Sampson, on his team selection: "First and foremost we looked at the opponents and the way we played against Mexico. Alex Greenwood made a big impact in that game, and we think there might be an opportunity to exploit space on the wings. Greenwood and Alex Scott are fantastic crossers of the ball. Hopefully we can use those weapons to our advantage.

"Casey Stoney coming in is just to freshen things up, she has been training great and has good partnership with Steph Houghton. We are pleased with that midfield unit and I'm sure that will help us going forward, but we will need to defend as well.

"It's great to have Karen Carney back. She made a big impact against Mexico, she's in a good vein of form and is certainly looking forward to playing from the start today."

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

    Alistair Magowan

BBC Sport at Montreal's Olympic Stadium

    England train

"England could face various different teams in the second round should they progress after playing Colombia.

"There is plenty of reward for winning in the Montreal Olympic Stadium because, if they top Group F, they would face the runners-up of Group E, which could be Costa Rica, Spain or South Korea.

"Finishing second means they would face Norway, while third place means they could take on either the United States or current World Cup holders Japan."

"Casey Stoney's inclusion is a rare feat under Mark Sampson. The former skipper has only played twice under the Welshman since he took over 18 months ago. It will be a huge boost for the 33-year-old centre-back, who has found it hard being away from her young twins."

  136. Sampson the Superman

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

    Mark Sampson

England coach Mark Sampson certainly isn't being suckered in by Colombia's lowly status in the rankings.

"We've got to put the world rankings to one side," he said.

"It's a bit unfair in women's football because a lot of the South American and African nations don't have many opportunities to play the top nations.

"I'd prefer to judge Colombia on drawing with Mexico and winning against France."

  137. Colombia flying high

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

    Colombia celebrate

According to Fifa's rankings, Colombia are the 28th best team in the world.

But as we have seen over the past month, not everything that Fifa says is an accurate reflection of reality.

Colombia pulled off one of the biggest shocks in Women's World Cup history last time out, beating third-ranked France, one of the big pre-tournament favourites.

Admittedly they only had three shots on goals compared to France's 22, but it was one of the finest stealth raids you have ever seen.

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

    Alistair Magowan

    BBC Sport in Montreal

"Mark Sampson shuffles the pack in keeping with his insistence that this World Cup is a squad game. Karen Carney and Alex Greenwood keep their places after making an impact against Mexico, while Casey Stoney, Jordan Nobbs and Alex Scott come in. Think it will be a 4-3-2-1 with Toni Duggan up top.

"Colombia make one change to the team which shocked France 2-0. Catalina Usme comes in for Ingrid Vidal. Left-back Orianica Velasquez, who wears the number nine jersey, has been impressive so far and can deliver a deadly set-piece."

England XI: Bardsley, A Scott, Houghton, Stoney, Greenwood, Williams, Moore, Nobbs, Duggan, Kirby, Carney.

Colombia XI: Sepulveda, N Arias, C Arias, Clavijo, Velasquez, Gaitan, Montoya, Ospina, Rincon, Andrade, Usme.

    Calculator

This is not a cut-out-and-keep guide to the qualification scenarios facing England tonight. It is never a good idea to take scissors to a screen.

But feel free to cut and paste what follows as a handy heads-up on what Mark Sampson's side needs tonight. I know I will as the evening progresses, the goals fly in and teams climb and fall on the Group F table.

    Deep breath...

A win or draw will definitely get England through to the last 16.

Even if they lose to Colombia today, they may sneak through on goal difference as one of four best third-placed teams from the group stage.

England have three points so far. Three teams - Switzerland, Sweden and Thailand - have taken three points at the end of their group campaigns.

With two groups yet to finish, England need to better the goal difference of Thailand (-7) and one of the other third-placed teams to have collected three points during the group stages to get through.

  147. Last 16 or first flight home?

    England v Colombia (21:00 BST)

    Mark Sampson

By 22:50 BST, we will know.

Will it be the indignity of a group-stage exit?

The excitement and possibilities of the last 16?

Or time to open up the spreadsheet and work out whether third place in Group F is worthy of a golden ticket to the knock-out stages?

Colombia and 90 minutes of football separate England from their Group F fate at the Women's World Cup.

    Let's get it on.
