  1. Pearson happy to wait for new job

Aston Villa v Leicester City (17:30 GMT)

    Nigel Pearson

Former Leicester manager on BBC Radio 5 live's weekend preview show

    Claudio Ranieri

"There's a lot of football being played at Leicester - it's continued to develop. Claudio Ranieri recognised what was working well and kept things going and allowed people to be themselves.

"I'm pleased to see it's continued to go well. I'm frustrated that it came to an end in the fashion it did but that's football."

On his next job: "It depends on whether there's a right fit for me. I need to commit myself totally to a job. For that I need to feel someone is totally committed to me doing the job for them. I've been out for longer than I thought I'd be. But if I don't work again this season and end up in the right job it'll be worth it."

  2. 'Leicester look supremely confident'

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leicester

    Matt Elliott

Former Leicester City captain on BBC Radio Leicester

    Aston Villa v Leicester

"There is absolutely no width to Villa's play. Their full-backs don't even push up. No wonder they've struggled to score goals this season.

"I'm slightly reticent to say it, but Leicester look supremely confident, even if they haven't caught fire yet.

"You feel as if Villa are sitting there, waiting for Leicester to kick-start and come at them."

  4. Trying but toothless

    Southampton 3-0 West Brom

Plenty of effort from West Brom, just not the quality needed to hurt the home side.

    Southampton
  5. 'We won't start buying people left, right and centre'

    Bournemouth 3-0 Norwich

Norwich manager Alex Neil said: "We didn't deserve anything from the game, but we won't start buying people left, right and centre just because we lost the match.

"The (transfer) plans are in place, and we don't make decisions like that on the back of one game.

"Bournemouth were the better side. We didn't do enough with the ball and we got caught out by a couple of things we spoke about before the game, so that's disappointing."

  6. Manager reaction

    Man City 4-0 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew: "It was a strange game all day. The goal changed the complexion of the game. The first one is one he should save, the second a deflection. We didn't deserve to be 2-0 down at half time.

"The second half we tried to take it to City but they punish you. I can't really be too disappointed. It's a tough one to take really but we have to. We did the same thing against Villa, a chance early on and of course that's the chance to give you a platform away from home. There were moments in our offensive play which could have been better. This does flatter Man City though, there's no doubt about that.

"Maybe we do need another striker at this time, that would give us all a boost I think. We are not going to hide from it. Whoever it is it will hopefully help the situation we are in. Sometimes you just need a goal out of nothing."

  7. Manager reaction

    Chelsea 3-3 Everton

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has suggested he may have spoken to the referee, Mike Jones, and told him to play additional stoppage time after Everton went 3-2 up in the 90th minute.

Hiddink told Match of the Day: "There was seven minutes extra time... I said, 'Ref, okay, they are celebrating at least one minute in the corner.'"

He added: "I will not deny it - it was offside because Oscar touched the ball, even though John was technically perfect [with his finish]."

"I took some risks [at 2-0 down] and it paid off in a spectacular way. The team is very resilient."

No prizes for guessing what was the biggest talking point of the day so far...

Rory McDowell: Do people not understand that the extra minute came from the Everton celebrations when they scored on the 90?

Sam Payne: Funny how Martinez forgot that funes Mori celebrated for at least 50 seconds, and continently forgot the pen in midweek.

Andrew O'Brien: Offside apart, someone inform Martinez and all other managers, the extra time board is for a MINIMUM of minutes to be added on.

  9. 'Villa have decided to play a high defensive line'

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leicester

    Matt Elliott

Former Leicester City captain on BBC Radio Leicester

"It looks to me that Villa have decided to play a high defensive line here. Mistakenly, if that's so, because already Vardy has nearly found himself in on goal.

"Leicester look sharp early on, snapping into challenges, quick to press and closing Villa down."

  10. "Southampton deserved to win the game"

    Southampton 3-0 West Brom

West Brom manager Tony Pulis has pointed his finger at the fixture schedule after his side's defeat today.

"You've got to give Southampton credit, they were the better team and deserved to win the game.

    Tony Pulis

"But we looked a bit leggy. It'd be interesting to see how many teams played away midweek, and then picked up points away from home this weekend, because our players did look leggy

"It just wasn't our day. All season we've done well away from home, today we just didn't, and got punished. But as I say, it'll be interesting to see how teams have done with two away games on the bounce this week."

Pulis may be onto something. Six teams who played away midweek have played so far this weekend - only Everton, with a point against Chelsea, avoided defeat.

  11. Morrison blow for Baggies

    Southampton 3-0 West Brom

  12. Chelsea equaliser 'heartbreaking'

    Chelsea 3-3 Everton

More from a furious Roberto Martinez, who saw his side concede a 98th-minute equaliser to John Terry when the Chelsea captain was in an offside position.

The Everton boss added: "It's a good two yards offside in the 18-yard box.

"And maybe the referee needs help with a clock where everyone can see it.

"It's heartbreaking because I thought it was a terrific game of football."

  13. 'It was an assured display'

    Bournemouth 3-0 Norwich

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told BBC Sport: "It was the perfect afternoon in many ways. Any win in this league is so valuable and the players produced an excellent, assured performance.

"We knew the importance of this month going into it and today is a big step. We've got Sunderland next week and the games just keep getting bigger."

  14. "Charlie in, nobody out"

    Southampton 3-0 West Brom

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has told BBC Sport that he's delighted to have captured the signing of Charlie Austin from QPR

"He was our target for January. The number of goals he's scored in the Premier League is amazing. We're looking forward to having him in the squad, and having more competition. That will be good.

"Will someone be sold? No. Nobody is for sale in January. At the end of the season, you don't know, but not now. We like to make the squad stronger, that means Charlie in, nobody out."

  15. 'I'm quite a sweaty guy...'

Aston Villa v Leicester (17:30 GMT)

    Matt Elliott

Former Leicester City captain on BBC Radio Leicester

    Matt Elliott

    No winter warmers for Matty...

"In training I would wear a few layers, but I'm not someone who would wear gloves and hats. I would train in the sort of kit I would play in on a match day.

"Anyway, I'm quite a sweaty guy... I couldn't be bothered with taking kit on and off!"

Aston Villa v Leicester can be followed live here.

  16. 'I was surprised with how poor we were'

    Bournemouth 3-0 Norwich

Norwich boss Alex Neil told BBC Sport: "The bottom line is that we just didn't play well enough. We didn't do all the things we've been doing in recent weeks well enough.

"To win games at this level you have to perform well as a team and we didn't. If you don't, you get punished as we did today. To be honest I was quite surprised with how poor we were.

"We started relatively brightly but when their first goal went in we didn't respond."

    Alex Neil
  17. View from the gantry

Aston Villa v Leicester (17:30 GMT)

    Jonathan Pearce

Match of the Day commentator at Villa Park

"After registering a first home win for 248 days, can Villa really get another just four days later?

"They need a run of several wins in a row to keep alive hopes of survival. There's little chance. No side has ever managed it after picking up just 11 points after 21 Premier League games.

"Leicester, with this season's best away record, have answered every question of all the doubters so far. Their defence isn't conceding and Jamie Vardy can start scoring again here."

Gully: Late goal only covers up grand canyon sized cracks at Chelsea! Real investment needed in the summer like it was in the last!

David: Everton were robbed! Offside and a min over added time!

Scotty Daily: Was Fergie at the Bridge?

Daniel Woodley: This season is absolutely mental! A brilliant one for the neutral but not for us fans!! Excitement every match day!

  19. Manager reatcion

    Man City 4-0 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew on the performance of goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey: "Wayne is going to have to show me this week in training. A mistake at Villa, he needed to respond today and made another mistake. The ball is in his court to keep out the other two goalkeepers but I need to see it in training, I need to see a reaction from him. I will give him that chance because he deserves it."

Hennessey made an error for Manchester City's opening goal.

    Alan Pardew
  20. 'Martinez is whingeing'

    Chelsea 3-3 Everton

    Chris Sutton

Former Chelsea & Norwich striker on Final Score

    Roberto Martinez

"Terry's equaliser was clearly offside, but he is a never-say-die player. It's a centre forward's finish after a great gamble.

"Martinez, who I've just watched, is whingeing."
