    FT: Celtic 1-0 Rangers

I'll sign off now. Thanks for your company this afternoon.

Celtic responded to what has been viewed as a sticky spell for them with a dominant display against Rangers. We only got one goal but the scoreline doesn't really tell the story of the game, with the visitors under siege for long spells and Allan McGregor making a number of great saves.

Remember, you can see highlights on Sportscene (17:55, BBC Two Scotland).

Will Celtic go on and bully the rest of the Premiership again and how will Rangers react to Steven Gerrard's first defeat? We won't have too long to wait to find out, with the action up and running again after the international break.

No surprise to see match-winner Olivier Ntcham at the top of our player rater.

The Frenchman scored the only goal and helped the home side run the show in midfield.

    FT: Celtic 1-0 Rangers

Celtic captain Scott Brown has been talking to BBC Radio Scotland.

"It was exceptional from our point of view. We showed Rangers how good we are.

"They put 11 men behind the ball and tried to make it hard for us but we face that week-in, week-out and eventually got the goal.

"We could have had a lot more if it wasn't for Allan McGregor."

  7. The referee has cost us - Gerrardpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 2 September 2018

    FT: Celtic 1-0 Rangers

Some more from Steven Gerrard's interview with Sky Sports...

"Celtic were better in the first half and had a lot of the play, but it was in front of us. Look, they’re a good team. They’ve won the treble twice, won six trophies, and had 150 games together. I thought we made it a contest of it in the second half and created a few decent openings.

"If we’d have lost to a moment of class or brilliance, I’d handle it but the referee has cost us.

"The game is still fresh and still hurts. I’ve asked questions of this squad and we’ve done great closing the gap but we still need to get better and improve.

"We need to not to focus on officials but focus on ourselves and trying to improve. And hopefully the next time Celtic come around, we can play better for 90 minutes rather than just turning up for 45."

  8. 'It’s blatant, a 100% foul'published at 14:26 British Summer Time 2 September 2018

    FT: Rangers 1-0 Celtic

Steven Gerrard is not happy with the Celtic goal...

The Rangers boss tells Sky Sports: "It’s a foul. The referee has ignored it and they go and score. I just went in and had a calm chat and wondered why he didn’t listen to the fourth official. How he hasn’t seen a clear swipe on Ryan Jack by Rogic… It’s blatant, a 100% foul."

  11. 'The scoreline doesn't really reflect our dominance'published at 14:17 British Summer Time 2 September 2018

    FT: Celtic 1-0 Rangers

Celtic's Brendan Rodgers is a satisfied manager...

"We were the very dominant team for start to finish," he tells BBC Radio Scotland. "Defensively, we were strong, we pressed the game well and had the courage and quality to play.

"Steven (Gerrard) has done well getting them organised so we had to be patience. The scoreline doesn't really reflect our dominance.

"We showed a calmness to play round them and play through them. Our only complaint is not scoring one or two more.

"It's an important three points for us. There's a lot more to come from this squad."

Celtic were not quite as dominant in the second half as they were in the first, but crucially they got their goal through Olivier Ntcham.

    FT: Celtic 1-0 Rangers

You'll be able to watch the highlights when Sportscene goes on air (BBC Two Scotland at 17:55).

There's certainly plenty for dynamic duo Michael Stewart and Steven Thompson to chew over with host Jonathan Sutherland.

Was there a foul in the build up to the goal?

Was Allan McGregor, who made a series of great saves, lucky to avoid an early red card?

Were Rangers too defensive - or simply overpowered by the better team?

You've got to be disappointed with Rangers' tactics. It was only when they went a goal down they started to attack and come into the game. Celtic had more class, the better organisation and the greater belief.
