    Wrexham 0-0 Newport County

Wrexham piled on the pressure in the final minutes but Newport held on and the National League side will be wondering how they haven't won this.

Newport will be thankful for an excellent display from goalkeeper Joe Day, who ensures the Exiles will be in the hat for the third round.

    Wrexham 0-0 Newport County

    Another Wrexham chance goes begging.

It's Joe Day in action again, this time he makes a fantastic sprawling stop on the line after the ball ricochets off a Newport defender.

Stuart Beavon gets in behind the Newport defence and expertly lobs goalkeeper Joe Day, only for Mickey Demetriou to come out of nowhere and hook it off the line.

  5. Today's actionpublished at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2018

No goals at Wrexham then but there were quite a few elsewhere today.

Non-league sides Halifax and Maidstone were knocked out of the FA Cup on a second-round day devoid of shocks.

The Shaymen fell to a 3-1 defeat in Saturday's early kick-off against League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon.

Maidstone, who had beaten League Two Macclesfield in the first round, fell to a 2-0 home defeat by fourth-tier Oldham, Peter Clarke and Chris O'Grady getting the goals.

Accrington boss John Coleman and assistant Jimmy Bell celebrated their 1,000th game in management with a victory, as their Stanley side overcame League Two Cheltenham.

Elsewhere, League One's bottom club Bradford completed the comeback of the day to secure a replay against Peterborough.

    Wrexham 0-0 Newport County

The half-time whistle blows at the Racecourse and neither side has managed to break the deadlock.

  7. CLOSE!published at 35 mins

    Wrexham 0-0 Newport County

An effort on target at last, and it's a decent one.

Wrexham's recent new acquisition Bobby Grant finds some space in the box and unleashes an effort that Joe Day claws away to safety.

    Fine Save.

  8. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Wrexham 0-0 Newport County

It's fair to say this game hasn't been a classic so far.

Wrexham's Brad Walker has had a couple of pops from distance though - the first went high into the stands - the second was closer to hitting the target but still didn't trouble Joe Day in the Newport goal.
