Gerard Deulolfeu - who nearly made this game 1-1 remember - is causing a bit of a scene on the edge of the box and a desperate tackle on him breaks to Roberto Pereyra. The substitute clips the ball past Ederson and has an empty net but he's crowded out and can only win a corner.

We have had 17 minutes of timid stuff since that last goal and it would appear Watford have blocked a dam that was leaking everywhere.

Bernardo Silva with 100% pass completion so far, Rodrigo with 97%. Fernandinho with 95% and he's seen more ball than any player out there.

This could turn into a testimonial in the second period if City ease up. I hope not. Too many teams do that these days. Go big or go home.

I doubt Dimitri Foulquier is enjoying his Premier League debut very much.

Cracking from Stoney. Just as Foulquier is subbed on 32 minutes.

All credit to Mancheter City but Watford are currently defending across two pitches it seems. Their back four is partly at the Etihad and the rest of it is maybe at Stockport County's ground or somewhere.

Sergio Aguero looks like he can again run through the heart of the defence but thankfully a big bounce forces him to stop and find a team-mate. David Silva benefits but his shot from 20 yards is blocked.

I have just done a bit of checking through the history books.

The biggest Premier League win remains Manchester United's 9-0 triumph over Ipswich in March 1995.

But there have been quite a few other big wins too, 14 of them by seven goals or more.

In none of those 14 games had a team been five goals ahead at half-time.

  10. CLOSE!published at 25 mins

    Man City 5-0 Watford

It could be six, Sergio Aguero is sent through one-on-one and he wants to lift it over Ben Foster.... just wide.

Moments later a blistering counter and it's Aguero again, first-time from a cut back... hits the post.

This is getting out of hand.

Right, so you're just tuning in. As one of my colleagues says, Norwich seem to have poked Manchester City with a stick last week and the retaliation is pretty epic.

We've had a David Silva tap in from a brilliant Kevin de Bruyne cross, a Sergio Aguero penalty after Riyad Mahrez was felled. Then Mahrez whacked a free-kick in via a deflection, before Bernardo Silva and Nicolas Otamandi both netted from close range.

That's all really. More as we get it. I doubt it will take long.

  15. goal

GOAL - Man City 5-0 Watfordpublished at 18 mins

    Nicolas Otamendi

We are now on course for around 28-0 or so.

Even defenders are scoring. End it. End it now.

City are really missing Raheem Sterling here.

Sergio Aguero is slid in down the left side of the area and he flashes a low ball across goal - the type of ball he normally gets on the end of - for Nicolas Otamendi to convert from a few yards.

    My head hurts.

GOAL - Man City 4-0 Watfordpublished at 15 mins

    Bernardo Silva

The little man stoops on the six-yard box to nod home unchallenged. Pass me the abacus will you.

A corner kick - which comes after City again slice the visitors open - is flicked on at the near stick and Bernardo Silva has his own plot of land in the area to watch it bounce, crouch and nod home.

At this rate it'll be 24-0.

    Man City 3-0 Watford

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

If you go back to the FA Cup final, Watford have now conceded seven goals in 43 minutes against Manchester City.

That is a quite incredible statistic.

Quique Sanchez Flores had a really long chat with Pep Guardiola before kick-off. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was telling him if he had known the two were playing so soon, he would have waited before accepting the job.

  18. goal

GOAL - Man City 3-0 Watfordpublished at 12 mins

    Riyad Mahrez

Manchester City can declare inside of 15 minutes.

After his fine work to fashion space, Riyad Mahrez takes the free kick left footed and his deflects off the face of Tom Cleverley to bamboozle Ben Foster.

    This is a sky-blue riot.

    Man City 2-0 Watford

Riyad Mahrez has started brightly and with a few dips of the shoulder he's attacking the centre of the area but gets hacked down by Abdoulaye Doucoure right on the edge of the box.

    This looks a deadly area...

  20. Postpublished at 8 mins

Sergio Aguero now has eight goals in six games. The little magic man has scored in every game he has played this season. This football lark is easy.
