    HT: Belgium 2-0 Russia

Russia have gone into half-time 2-0 down in their last three matches at the European Championship.

...They have never won in any of the 11 matches in which they've gone behind (D2, L9).

    HT: Belgium 2-0 Russia

    Clinton Morrison

Former Republic of Ireland striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

A lot of people will be looking at Belgium in this tournament. Russia have gifted them two goals and need the next goal.

Russia were in the game but Belgium gained confidence from that first goal.

  3. HALF-TIME

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

A bit of a breeze for Belgium so far. Romelu Lukaku and Thomas Meunier on the scoresheet.

  4. Post update

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

    Yuri Zirkhov

Yuri Zirkhov (37y 296d) is the oldest player ever to play for Russia at the Euros.

His 43-minute appearance this evening sees him overtake Sergei Ignashevich, who was (36y 342d) at the 2016 tournament.

  5. CLOSE!

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

Yannick Carrasco can't quite get away on the left but he battles for it back immediately.

He wriggles into the box, beats two defenders, then smashes one inches over the bar.

  6. Post update

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

Belgium need to get Youri Tielemans on the ball more. He's whipping it around nicely and causing Russia some problems.

It's Tielemans who gets the ball in the box but his shot is blocked by a wall of defenders. Nobody picked him up.

  7. Post update

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

    Clinton Morrison

Former Republic of Ireland striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The goalkeeper Anton Shunin is playing with a lot of nerves at the moment. He made a mistake and then came to a danger area where he could not get the ball.

There was nothing Yuri Zhirkov could do about that challenge with Thomas Meunier. No way was it a penalty. I could have told the VAR officials that straight away.

  8. SUBSTITUTION

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

Toby Alderweireld's pass won't reach Youri Tielemans but he recovers well to stop the Russian counter-attack.

Vyacheslav Karavaev then replaces Yuri Zhirkov, who pulled up a little earlier. Russia have used two subs already!

  9. Post update

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

    No penalty.

  10. Post update

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

Russia are giving the ball away so cheaply. Belgium almost capitalise again but Thomas Meunier goes down in the box before he can get a shot away. No penalty says the referee. VAR will check it though...

  11. Post update

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

Artem Dzyuba gets on the end of a Russia free-kick and he heads it dangerously across the goalline and towards the far post.

Nobody can get on the end of it. Why didn't he go for goal?

  12. Post update

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

Russia might have to make another change. Yuri Zhirkov has gone down holding the back of his leg. He heads off to the side for some treatment.

  13. 'I think that could be game over'

    Belgium 2-0 Russia

    Clinton Morrison

Former Republic of Ireland striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

    Belgium players celebrate

It is poor goalkeeping. It is a good ball in but he has to parry that away. He has to do better. I think that could be game over.

Every time Belgium go forward they look like they are going to score.

  14. GOAL - Belgium 2-0 Russia

    Thomas Meunier

    Thomas Meunier scores

The Belgium substitute makes it 2-0.

It's whipped in from the left and the goalkeeper spills it straight into Thomas Meunier's path.

He bundles it over the line from an unmarked position. Belgium have been clinical.

  15. Post update

    Belgium 1-0 Russia

    Conor McNamara

    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

Denis Cheryshev scored four goals in the World Cup finals in Russia in 2018. The Valencia midfielder is a good man to come on.

Since going a goal down Russia have arguably been the best team.

  16. SUBSTITUTION

    Belgium 1-0 Russia

Daler Kuzyaev doesn't look like he's able to carry on either. On comes Denis Cheryshev for Russia.

  17. Post update

    Belgium 1-0 Russia

Before kick-off, Belgium had a 50.1% chance of winning. Now, after taking the lead, Opta predicts their chances are 72.5%.

Toby Alderweireld tries to make it 2-0 but he smashes it over the bar.

  18. Post update

    Belgium 1-0 Russia

    Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku is unsurprisingly also Belgium’s top scorer at major tournaments (World Cup & European Championships), with eight goals in 16 games. Seven of those eight goals have come in the group stages.

  19. SUBSTITUTION

    Belgium 1-0 Russia

    Timothy Castagne goes off

Timothy Castagne has had a real whack. He's got a huge swollen lump on the side of his head and a cut so Thomas Meunier is coming on.

Daler Kuzyaev has got a head bandage on.
