Motherwell is part of Onni Valakari's life. Not something you expect to hear said about a Finland international, but his father Simo insists it is the case.

Young Onni, you see, was born in the Scottish town in 1999 during his old man's four-year stint with the local team.

And now, after impressing at Cypriot side Pafos last season, he is part of the first Finnish squad to play at a major finals and even featured in BBC Sport's 20 young players to watch at Euro 2020.

"Even if it was brief, Motherwell is a part of his life," Simo tells BBC Scotland. "He follows the Scottish Premiership. As a family holiday, we are planning one day to come back and see where we used to live."

Dzyuba aiming to avoid record

Russia captain Artem Dzyuba will be hoping to avoid an unwanted record tonight.

The veteran striker has now failed to score for five matches in a row for his country, equalling his longest stretch without a goal for the national team.

The last time he went as long without a goal for Russia was in 2015.

Dzyuba did manage to pick up an assist in Russia’s last outing at this tournament, a 1-0 victory over Finland which marked their first win in a European Championship since 2012.

Finland still have a chance of joining Belgium in the last 16 after beating Denmark in their first game, but I don't see them adding to their points tally here.

Everyone saw how poor Belgium can be defensively in the first half of their last game, against Denmark - but then they showed how good they can be going forward after the break, when the big boys are playing.

Kevin de Bruyne changed everything when he came on at half-time, and the bad news for the Finnish is that I'd expect him to start this time.

This game is in Copenhagen and not St Petersburg, decided by a Uefa draw last November.

Russia coach Stanislav Cherchesov said: "This is going to be our first away game in two major tournaments, and without our fans.

"However, it's not a problem. We haven’t used the word problem for the past five years. It's just a situation, and we know how to deal with it."

Danish defender Jannik Vestergaard said: "We still have great ambitions, and we'll go out and beat Russia.

"Hopefully, Belgium will do their part [and beat Finland], so the tournament will not be over for us. I think our performance against the world's top-ranked team confirms we play at an extremely high level and we can compete with the best."

Perfect record v biggest game

The big guns are back for Belgium and that is not good news for Finland.

The Belgians were looking beatable as Denmark dominated them in the first half of their last game but on came Kevin de Bruyne and Eden Hazard for the second half and the game swung back in Belgium's favour as they won 2-1.

"We still have to work to get better," says Hazard. "We are doing our best to get better, starting with tomorrow. The tournament is still long and we are trying to get as far as possible. There are still areas for improvement, but we are working with them."

Tournament debutants Finland have done well to put themselves in a position to go through.

Their one win did come in unusual circumstances being the fixture with Denmark in which Christian Eriksen collapsed but they were unlucky to lose to Russia.

Finland coach Markku Kanerva is confident they can reach the last 16.

"We have the biggest match in the history of Finnish football [against Belgium]," Kanerva said. "The big dream that the team had to qualify from this group stage is in our own hands."

The winner of Group B will advance to play the third-placed team of Group A, Group D, Group E or Group F.

A game against Wales awaits the Group B runner up. That will take place in Amsterdam on Saturday, 26 June.

Whoever finishes third could progress as one of the four best third-placed teams and they will play the winner of Group E or Group F

Here's how things are looking in Group B and this is what each team needs to progress.

• Belgium are through and will top the group with a draw against Finland.
• Russia will progress with a win. A draw will be enough if Finland fail to beat Belgium.
• Finland will go through with a win. A draw will do the job if Russia lose to Denmark.
• Denmark can finish second if they win against Russia and Finland lose against Belgium, but then goal difference will come into play.

Things get a touch more complicated if the following scenarios play out:

• If Belgium, Russia and Finland all finish on six points they will progress with goal difference deciding who finishes where.
• If Denmark, Russia and Finland all finish on three points then goal difference from matches between the three teams will determine which position they finish in.
