  1. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

Another let off for Northern Ireland as Michael Gregoritsch heads the ball down to the feet of Christoph Baumgartner, who is yards from goal but somehow he volleys over.

The hosts are very fortunate not to be behind.

  2. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

Space once again for David Alaba to do his thing on the left and he fizzes in a low cross but Jonny Evans is well placed to clear.

  3. CLOSE!

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

How!? How has he missed this?

A terrible back pass by Craig Cathcart is far too short for Michael McGovern and Christoph Baumgartner nips in. He just has the goalkeeper to beat but somehow bends his shot wide of the far post.

A terrible error in defence, but also a terrible miss.

  4. 'NI need more bodies in the box'

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

    John O'Neill

Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

Quote Message: The quality of the ball into the box has been poor from both sides. Northern Ireland need to get more than one man in the box. So far, it's only been Lafferty in there and he can't be at the front and back post at the same time obviously.
  5. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

Conor McLaughlin launches the ball forward and finds Kyle Lafferty but the striker has no support and can only hand possession straight back to Austria.

  6. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

Conor McLaughlin's ball towards the near post is cleared by Stefan Ilsanker as the hosts try to carve out an opportunity for themselves after that scare at the other end.

  7. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

    Free header!

Big let off for Northern Ireland as Martin Hinteregger finds himself completely free in the box for a David Alaba free kick but the ball skims off his head and into Michael McGovern's hands.

  8. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

A first corner for Northern Ireland but Paddy McNair's delivery isn't a good one as Austria clear.

  9. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

Twenty minutes in and Northern Ireland are yet to manage a shot on or off target although they are getting forward a bit more and just put together a few passes to create that opportunity for Gavin Whyte a moment or two ago.

  10. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

A lovely ball by Steven Davis finds Jordan Jones on the left. The ball is worked forward as Jamal Lewis and Jones exchange passes before Gavin Whyte's square ball inside the box is cut out.

At the other end, Christoph Baumgartner's tame volley is straight at Michael McGovern.

  11. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

Neat footwork by Michael Gregoritsch just inside the Northern Ireland box opens up a bit of space for the Austria forward but his clipped effort bounces wide of the far post.

Northern Ireland are struggling to put a few passes together at the moment with Austria dominating play, although they haven't yet tested Michael McGovern.

  12. 'Lafferty will be booked if he's not careful'

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

    John O'Neill

Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

Quote Message: It annoys me when Lafferty plays like that. Just play the game the way it's supposed to be played. You can lean on defenders but he gives away too many silly fouls. He's going to get himself booked if he's not careful.
  13. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

David Alaba is owning the left flank at the moment and he runs unchallenged before delivering a brilliant cross to the back post. Jamal Lewis misses his clearing header but the ball bounces off Reinhold Ranftl's shins and behind for a goal kick.

That opportunity came after a needless foul by Kyle Lafferty.

  14. We've got ourselves an atmosphere

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

    Mark Sterling

BBC Sport NI at Windsor Park

Windsor Park normally bounces to an 18,000-strong crowd so it was always going to be interesting to see how it looked and sounded with just 600 supporters attending.

    Early impressions are very good.

The Green and White Army have an extensive songbook and the fans that are in tonight - courtesy of an Irish FA ballot - are working their way through the list of favourites rightly.

The Kop - as ever - is dictating the set-list, and it's so, so good to hear songs being belted out at a football match again.

More of this, when it's safe to do so, please.

  15. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

Ten minutes in and Austria have the game's first corner as Jonny Evans nips across to prevent a cross coming in from the right.

Stefan Ilsanker meets the delivery from the set play but puts his header straight at Michael McGovern.

  16. Post update

    Northern Ireland v Austria

A clever, clever ball by David Alaba cuts through the Northern Ireland defence and almost finds Michael Gregoritsch but Michael McGovern gets to it first.

  17. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

Stuart Dallas launches a throw into the Austria box but it headed away and the visitors charge up the pitch. Christoph Baumgartner gets into the area but his cut back is cut out and cleared.

  18. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

David Alaba's run is halted by Gavin Whyte as the visitors continue to do all the early attacking.

A quick break by Jordan Jones is then halted and the hosts have a free kick just inside the Austria half.

  19. Post update

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

A first competitive cap in three years for Michael McGovern and he will welcome an early touch of the ball as an Austria attack ends with a loose pass forward that runs through to the Northern Ireland goalkeeper.

  20. KICK-OFF

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Austria

Fair play, those 600 fans are making a pretty decent noise and it nice to have some football with an atmosphere as the game gets under way,
