Tavernier a marked man

While Kilmarnock will be wary of Rangers' strike force, with Cedric Itten joining midweek match winner Alfredo Morelos in the starting line-up, they will no doubt also be trying to stem the progress up the right flank of full-back James Tavernier.

The Ibrox captain has had a direct hand in more goals than any other Premiership player this season, registering five goals and five assists

Three changes for Killie

Kilmarnock make three changes following last weekend’s defeat by Hibernian with injured centre-half Clevid Dikamona unavailable and 19-year-old defender Zeno Ibsen Rossi and forward Greg Kiltie dropping to the bench.

Ross Millen and Stuart Findlay come into defence, with forward Rory McKenzie also starting.

Morelos starts in five Rangers changes

Rangers make five changes following Thursday's 1-0 Europa League win against Lech Poznan, although midfielder Ryan Jack and striker Alfredo Morelos have overcome knocks to start.

Also coming in are centre-half Filip Helander, midfielder Joe Aribo and striker Cedric Itten, with Leon Balogun, Steven Davis, Ianis Hagi, Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe dropping to the bench

Rangers eye nine-point lead, Killie aim for fifth

Steven Gerrard's Rangers can open up a nine-point lead at the top of the Premiership with victory at Rugby Park, albeit holders Celtic will have two games in hand.

Kilmarnock slipped down to sixth after Dundee United's win yesterday but can regain that spot with a win.

Rangers won the reverse fixture 2-0 at Ibrox and have beaten their hosts in three of their last four meetings.

However, Rangers have lost on three of their last five visits to Rugby Park, winning just one.

Big games in cup and league

One down, one to go in Scottish football's back to the future tale.

The 2019-20 Scottish Cup has yet to be concluded despite the start to a new season and Heart of Midlothian lie in wait after their semi-final victory over Edinburgh neighbours Hibernian yesterday.

Today it is the turn of Aberdeen and holders Celtic to do battle at Hampden for a place in the 20 December final - kicking off at 14:30 GMT.

But first we have Scottish Premiership business to deal with at noon as Kilmarnock entertain leaders Rangers.
