The Republic of Ireland have their first shots since the ninth minute.

The ball drops to Aaron Connolly and he has a shot blocked in the box. He pulls it back for Jayson Molumby, who curls just wide from 20 yards.

OK this is getting a bit concerning now if you're a Republic of Ireland fan. An Azerbaijan player shins a shot and Shane Duffy has to head away a cross. The visitors are edging this now.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has put Serbia 1-0 ahead against Luxembourg.

Serbia come to Dublin to face the Irish on Tuesday.

They cause a few problems from the corner and, luckily for the Irish, Mahir Emreli snatches his shot.

Hmmm, this is better from Azerbaijan now.

Namiq Alasgarov drifts inside and forces another save from Gavin Bazunu from 20 yards. This was better though and the young keeper had to tip it round the post.

Norway are 1-0 up in Latvia. You can guess who scored - Erling Braut Haaland from the spot.

Nice work from Troy Parrott in the corner and he backheels it into the path of James McClean but the Wigan man can't take it in his stride and it's behind for a goal-kick.

I'd say the Irish aren't quite as dominant now as they started this game off at. They're passing the ball well in midfield but not as much attacking to talk about.

In fact their possession is down from 75% to 53.9%.

Russia lead Cyprus 1-0.

James McClean overhits a cross from the left and then Matt Doherty does the same from the right.

Azerbaijan have their first shot of the game. They have a spell of attacks and then Namiq Alasgarov has a weak 20-yard shot saved by Gavin Bazunu.

Aaron Connolly has had more shots (four) than any other Republic of Ireland player so far in 2022 World Cup qualifying, with all of these efforts coming in the Portugal game.

You don't associate Irish teams with 75% possession but that's how much the hosts have had. It's attack after attack.

Seamus Coleman goes close now. The centre-back intercepts a loose ball, cuts inside and curls it high and wide with his left foot.

Seamus Coleman pumps a long ball forward but Azeri keeper Sahruddin Mahammadaliyev (copy and paste) rushes to the edge of his box to grab the ball before Adam Idah can control it.

Mahammadaliyev (copy and paste) gets a knock from Idah but he's OK.

Azerbaijan have won just one of their last 26 qualifying away games, losing each of the last nine.

Ireland mount an attack with 20 seconds but Aaron Connolly is flagged offside.

Azerbaijan kicked off while the Irish players were taking the knee. A simple mistake I suspect.

They get it going for a second time afterwards.
