  1. goal

GOAL - England 2-0 Albaniapublished at 17 mins

    Harry Kane

    England double their lead!

This is all about the industry and then guile of Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson.

He picks a loose ball up deep in the final third, plays a one-two with Phil Foden and without looking chips a cross into the six-yard box.

He wasn't looking for anyone in particular, just playing it into space and Harry Kane says thank you very much with the easiest of headers from barely a yard out.

Total dominance from England so far.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16 mins

    England 1-0 Albania

    Dropping like flies.

Another man down for Albania, this time it's Marsha Kumbulla. He can't go on either.

He jogs off and on comes Kastriot Dermaku.

Albania have made two changes due to injury and conceded a goal in the opening 16 minutes.

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 14 mins

    England 1-0 Albania

What's he doing?? And what a miss it is!

Kyle Walker is a lucky, lucky man, playing a blind backpass which puts Myrto Uzuni in on goal.

The Albania frontman sets himself but telegraphs the strike, opening up his body and Jordan Pickford gets down to his left to make a superb save.

Walker runs over to thank his team-mate.

Greg Morter: Hopefully that early goal will see England open the floodgates.

WBA supporter overseas: So happy for Maguire. That’s how you get it done! Well-worked set piece too.

    England 1-0 Albania

Had a great view of Phil Foden's vicious, inswinging delivery from this corner.

A home player was primed to meet it but an Albania defender got up to nod away.

  6. Swiss shockerpublished at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2021

    Big goal in Group C!

Switzerland lead Italy in Rome in the battle of the top two!

It is a brilliant goal too, fired high into the net by Silvan Widmer after he is set up by Noah Okafor. That has put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Oh, and Poland are 2-0 up against Andorra now. Kamil Jozwiak with the goal. That's going to get messy.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 12 mins

    England 1-0 Albania

Albania are forced into an early change.

Keidi Bare's night is over and he hobbles off, on comes Qazim Laci in his place.

  8. CLOSE!published at 11 mins

    England 1-0 Albania

It should be two in two minutes for England.

Playmaker Phil Foden breaks free and reaches the edge of the box before lashing over.

    Should have done better.

  9. 'A boost for Maguire'published at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2021

    England 1-0 Albania

    Rob Green
Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Fantastic start. It is as simple as you like, Reece James with the quality on the ball and it is asking to be met. Albania don't drop as a line and don't get close to Maguire. What a boost in confidence for him and what a boost for England. Fast start.

  10. goal

GOAL - England 1-0 Albaniapublished at 9 mins

    Harry Maguire

    Lift offff!

England lead inside 10 minutes and Wembley erupts.

He has had a difficult time of it at club level but Harry Maguire is the man to get the opener, timing his run to perfection on thumping in a header from Reece James' delightful delivery.

Maguire was overjoyed by that one with a knee slide into the corner, Three Lions off and running.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 8 mins

Tell you what, Albania aren't backing off either.

Klaus Gjasula, a month earlier than expected, is booked for a hack from behind on Harry Kane.

There was an arm across the body of Raheem Sterling - as clear as you like.

  14. Lewa up and runningpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2021

It's going to be a looooooong night for the 10 men of Andorra. Robert Lewandowski has given Poland the lead.

Just the 85 more minutes to go.

It's all happening in Group I (that'd be the one England are in). Hungary lead San Marino 1-0 through Dominik Szoboszlai's finish.

For England to qualify tonight they need Poland to lose. Be amazed if that happens.

Martin McHugh: And England start with more passes backward than forward. It hurts!!

Mike Scott: Even as a Spurs fan, I would pick Smith-Rowe ahead of Phillips all day long. Especially the form he is in.

    England 0-0 Albania

Then Albania break but Myrto Uzuni is way offside.

He carries on his run and is taken out by Jordan Pickford's flying challenge.

    We've seen that one before.

No action taken this time either.

  17. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 3 mins

    England 0-0 Albania

Wing-backs Reece James and Kyle Walker are pushed right up to the halfway line, with England deploying three at the back.

Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling wants a penalty after Sokol Cikalleshi steps across him and bringing the Manchester City player down.

No, says the ref. Stonewaller, wasn't it??

Albania have to win this for their own hopes so you hope that aids England in their view to winning the game as well.

  19. Andorra down to 10 men already!published at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2021

If Andorra thought they had a tough job on their hands tonight against Poland, it has taken just a single minute to get an awful lot tougher.

Barely 60 seconds on the clock and they've been reduced to 10 men with striker Ricard Fernandez seeing a straight red.

Heavens have opened again, will be interesting to see how the two goalkeepers deal with the conditions.

England in blue and Albania in white is going to cause some confusion.
