February 27th - my brother, Sean, and I travelled to Barcelona to see Wolves play Espanyol - lost the match but won the tie. Spent a nervous evening in a bar as tv reports were dominated by Spanish Covid news - will we be allowed home we thought?

My last full stadium was a cracking top of the table clash between South Shields and FC United of Manchester. 3,500 there to witness us win 5-3 and take a big step towards promotion to National league North. Sadly that got null and voided. Can't wait to be back cheering the boys on

  3. Koeman hopes Messi will stay despite defeatpublished at 09:35 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2021

    Paris Saint-Germain 1-1 Barcelona (agg 5-2)

Two heavyweights of European football were also in action last night as Paris Saint-Germain dumped Barcelona out of the Champions League.

However, Barca boss Ronald Koeman says Lionel Messi can have no doubts over the "great future" the club has after they bowed out with a spirited performance.

Looking to overturn a three-goal deficit from the first leg, Messi's stunning 25-yard equaliser had given the visitors hope of staging a remarkable comeback, after Kylian Mbappe had put the hosts in front against the run of play with a penalty.

Last time I went to the football I had a hot chocolate, made with the infamous scalding water out of a huge metal vat! I can still feel the impact of that drink on my tongue to this day!

Nick: Well I can tell you about the last match I DIDN'T go to - I missed Arsenal beating West Ham 1-0 on the 7th March 2020 because I went to Amsterdam and figured I'd just go to the next one - never thought a year later I'd still be waiting for that next match...

Andrew: Not a story. Just that I miss the people that sit around me at SJP. Best of friends for 2hrs - 19 times a season while watching NUFC but then never seen outside that. I hope they're all ok

  8. City's march to the title rolls onpublished at 09:00 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2021

    Man City 5-2 Southampton

Liverpool's predecessors Manchester City were in Premier League action last night as they aim to regain the title from the Reds.

Pep Guardiola's men returned to winning ways in style with a thumping win over Southampton that moves them 14 points clear at the top of the table.

Riyad Mahrez and Kevin de Bruyne both scored twice as City delivered an emphatic and instant response to their defeat in Sunday's Manchester derby, which had ended a 21-game winning run.

This was not the disciplined display typical of many of City's victories this season but their incisive attacking, aided by some helter-skelter Saints defending, meant they still ended up convincing winners.

As the ball hits the net, 3,000 Atletico fans erupt and manager Diego Simeone celebrates before them.

But as the lights went out on Liverpool's Champions League defence so they did on football - Covid-19 shutting the game down for three months and leaving European grounds empty indefinitely.

Will: Last game I went to was Liverpool at home in the FA Cup. Barkley scored a worldie and Billy Gilmour announced himself to the world. Atmosphere was unbelievable. Dreaming of getting back down to SW6

Adam: I miss the overpriced beer and snacks, I’d never thought I’d say that. Nothing beats a day out at the football

Liverpool 2-0 RB Leipzig (agg 4-0)

More reaction to Liverpool's Champions League win over RB Leipzig now, and manager Jurgen Klopp said his side's performance was "necessary".

"The performance and the level we played tonight was really good and necessary," Klopp said.

"We did really well. Defending-wise [it] was really good. [The] front three worked well together - but missed a couple of chances in the first half."

"The only reason you play in the Champions League is to win but we are not silly," Klopp continued on BBC Radio 5 live.

"We are [dangerous opponents] but it is nothing really. I don't want to create headlines about our hopes.

"We didn't have momentum in the Premier League but we have games to get that back and that would help us in the Champions League."

  15. All eyes on the Ricohpublished at 08:05 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2021

My last game was watching Coventry win at Rochdale at the end of February.

Victory at Spotland took the Sky Blues to the top of the League One table. We went on to win the title of course, but no one was there to watch it happen!

In better news, City have agreed to return to the Ricoh next term after spending the last couple of seasons at Birmingham's St Andrews, and the excitement is building among fans for their long-awaited return.

All they need to do now is stay in the Championship a little longer...

Liverpool 2-0 RB Leipzig (agg 4-0)

Liverpool were beaten by Atletico a year ago, but they had better fortune last night as they cruised past RB Leipzig to return to winning ways.

The English champions had lost their last six home games, but taking a 2-0 lead into the second leg at Budapest's Puskas Arena, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored two second-half goals to see them comfortably through.
