Departing Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock told BBC Radio Tees he was 'proud' of the job he had done at Boro.

The veteran left the club straight after their 1-1 draw with West Brom this afternoon.

"I was told this morning that I would be leaving the club today and I didn't want to let the fans and the players down," he said.

"The club is going in a different direction and that is their prerogative.

"I'm disappointed because aside from Steve Gibson (chairman) I have not had a lot of support from behind the scenes.

"I told the players at 10 to three that I would be leaving after the game and asked them to play and just to finish on a high for me. They did me proud. They're a good group

"I'm ever so proud of what we did. We stabilised the club and now they're in a good position for the new guy coming in."

Chris Willock's sensational strike gives QPR the lead against Blackpool at the break.

But it's been a controversial first half as the hosts had a goal chalked off when Gary Madine was judged to be offside in the process of Kenny Dougall heading home.

    Blackpool 0-1 QPR

The tempo of this game has ever so slightly calmed down as Blackpool send a wayward cross out for a QPR throw-in following a promising succession of passes.

Not long until half-time now and, despite the Seasiders' dominance, QPR will be happy if it stays like this by the break.

  6. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Blackpool 0-1 QPR

Blackpool win another corner as they continue to try and force an equaliser against QPR.

It's worked into the box and James Husband dives in with a header at the near post but his effort goes high and wide of the mark.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 36 mins

    Blackpool 0-1 QPR

Gary Madine is the latest player to go into the book, this time as the Blackpool man goes in with a high arm in an aerial challenge for the ball.

Is that a bit of frustration setting in for the hosts?

  8. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Blackpool 0-1 QPR

The free-kick is sent into the box and QPR briefly clear it, but Kenny Dougall does well to beat his marker and win a corner.

Blackpool are maintaining the pressure but can't find the end result so far, which is summed up as the corner is cleared no sooner does it enter the box.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 34 mins

    Blackpool 0-1 QPR

Moses Odubajo goes into the book for a cynical sliding challenge on Josh Bowler.

Blackpool win a free-kick virtually on the touchline on the right flank deep into QPR territory.

  10. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Blackpool 0-1 QPR

A Blackpool corner is sent into the box and Seny Dieng reacts quickly to keep QPR's lead in place.

Marvin Ekpiteta had fired goalbound at a tight angle at the far post but that's a cracking stop from the QPR keeper.

  11. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Blackpool 0-1 QPR

What do Blackpool have in response to Chris Willock's opener for QPR?

Well they have passed the ball about well since the goal and, having got into the QPR box, waste the chance to try and work a shot away.

    It's an active game this.

    What a goal!

Completely against the run of play, QPR take the lead and it comes via an absolute peach from Chris Willock.

He picks up the ball on the corner of the box, turns and beats Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel before swinging in a curling shot in off the post.

That was QPR's first shot in this match, too.

  13. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Blackpool 0-0 QPR

QPR work the ball upfield and Yoann Barbet puts a swinging cross in towards the box.

Marvin Ekpiteta heads it out for a corner to the visitors and it's sent into the box before Blackpool keeper Daniel Grimshaw punches it clear.

Shouts for a penalty after Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel is brought down on the byline by Moses Odubajo but the referee waves away the hosts' calls.

Not much in that one, for me.

    FT: West Brom 1-1 Middlesbrough

If you're just checking in with us for the evening then you might not have seen that Middlesbrough parted company with boss Neil Warnock straight after their 1-1 draw at West Brom.

These photos taken on the pitch after the full-time whistle tell their own story.

The two parties had clearly come to an agreement before the match at The Hawthorns.

    Blackpool 0-0 QPR

Almost a bit of a howler for Blackpool as Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel puts in a wayward loosely-hit back pass which QPR almost latch onto.

But goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw is on hand to boot the ball away to clear the danger.

  17. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Blackpool 0-0 QPR

Having seen a television replay of that disallowed Blackpool 'goal', I do think the hosts have been quite hard done by.

Gary Madine at one point is in an offside position, but between Kenny Dougall heading the ball and it going in, Madine never interferes with play.

Still, since then it's all Blackpool and Neil Critchley's side have dominated the match so far.

  18. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Blackpool 0-0 QPR

It's all Blackpool after that disallowed goal and they're not letting that decision kill their early momentum against QPR.

They win a succession of free-kicks on the right flank with the latest sailing in before Kenny Dougall finds his shot on goal blocked.

Dear oh dear, what's gone on here?!

Blackpool win a corner and Kenny Dougall heads in at the far post...or does he?!

Gary Madine is judged to have been active in play in the course of Dougall heading in and he's flagged offside, however there's a delay between the flag going up and the ball going in and Blackpool are absolutely livid.

  20. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Blackpool 0-0 QPR

There's a good crowd at Bloomfield Road this evening and it's a lively atmosphere under the lights.

As stated, both sides can move into the top six this evening, so we should be in for a decent game.
