  1. Big noise at Mansfieldpublished at 12:09 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Mansfield v Middlesbrough (12:15 GMT)

    What a noise at Mansfield.

The teams are getting ready to come out and there's a terrific atmosphere being whipped up inside the ground.

The ground looks pretty full too. Great support for the League Two club.

  2. Palace's visit to the Denpublished at 12:07 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

Millwall v Crystal Palace (12:45 GMT)

Crystal Palace travel to Championship side Millwall without several players including Wilfried Zaha, Cheikhou Kouyate and Jordan Ayew, who are competing at the Africa Cup of Nations.

But Patrick Vieira's side have enjoyed trips to the Den, only losing one of their last five competitive meetings.

Millwall, who have suffered a recent blip in form (losing three of their last five league games) have done relatively well this season and sit 11th in the Championship, just seven points off a play-off place with two games in hand.

They were knocked out of the League Cup by other Premier League opposition - Leicester City - in September, so will hope for a better outcome this time.

  3. Morecambe boss to miss Spurs tiepublished at 12:05 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

Tottenham v Morecambe (Sunday, 14:00 GMT)

It's a huge weekend for League One Morecambe as they get ready to take on eight-time FA Cup winners Tottenham on Sunday.

Coventry City welcome fellow Championship side Derby County, managed by Wayne Rooney, to the Building Society Arena today.

The hosts won the competition in 1987 and manager Mark Robins says "you don't need to convey how important and special" the FA Cup is to the club.

"This club has obviously won it and that’s been probably one of the most talked about occasions in the club’s history. That’s how special it was," he added.

Derby County, winners themselves in 1946, come into it off the back of three wins from their last four league games but they sit bottom of the Championship table, 14 places below Coventry City.

Fulham's leading marksman Aleksandar Mitrovic doesn't start either, with the Serb having to settle for a place among the substitutes.

This is the first game of 2022 for the Cottagers who lost their way at the back end of last year and haven't won a game since 20 November.

    Mansfield v Middlesbrough (12:15 GMT)

Not long until kick-off in the first of today's ties.

Both teams are warming up on the pitch and almost every player is wearing gloves.

It's wet and windy but Mansfield won't mind.

They're flying under Nigel Clough after winning their last five league and cup matches.

Will the League Two club overcome Championship side Middlesbrough?

  9. Games like buses....published at 11:53 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

Bristol City v Fulham (12:30 GMT)

    Always the way, isn't it?

You draw a team in the cup competition and then face them the following week in the league.

Bristol City welcome Fulham this lunchtime but will be making the returning trip next Saturday.

The table would suggest the Cottagers should be heading into the fourth round. They sit third in the Championship table, 15 points and 12 places above today's hosts.

But Marco Silva's side have not recorded a victory since 20 November and Bristol City come into the game off the back of a confidence-boosting 3-2 win over Millwall.

Holders Leicester City start their defence with an all-Premier League tie with Watford.

Will Burnley struggle at home to Huddersfield without manager Sean Dyche?

Crystal Palace face an awkward London derby at Millwall and Newcastle host League One Cambridge.

Brentford are at League Two Port Vale and Brighton play Graham Potter's old club West Brom.

Chelsea host non-league Chesterfield and Everton are at Championship club Hull City - a match you can watch live on BBC One at 17:30 GMT.

At the same time, Southampton will be hoping to avoid an early exit at Swansea City.

  11. 5,800 Chesterfield fans at Chelseapublished at 11:48 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Chelsea v Chesterfield (17:30 GMT)

  12. Can Burnley find a win?published at 11:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Burnley v Huddersfield (12:30 GMT)

    Ian WoanImage source, Getty Images

Burnley haven't won in any competition since October, so will Sean Dyche want to rediscover some momentum in the FA Cup or concentrate on his side's battle against relegation in the Premier League?

Meanwhile, promotion-chasing Huddersfield are unbeaten in six games after another trip to Lancashire last time out saw them draw with Blackburn.

The last time Huddersfield travelled to Burnley in the competition they grabbed a 1-0... although that was in 1972, mind.

Dyche will not be at Turf Moor for the game, he's isolating with Covid, so assistant Ian Woan will instead be in charge of the Clarets for this one.

  13. Team news - Pope returns for Burnleypublished at 11:43 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

Subs: Hennessey, Cork, Thomas, Dodgson, Long, Helm, McGlynn.

Josh Ruffels and Jon Russell both get their first starts for Huddersfield.

Club Captain Jonathan Hogg returns from injury.

Huddersfield XI: Schofield, Pipa, Pearson, Hogg, Rhodes, Koroma, Ruffels, Sarr, Sinani, Lees, Russell.

Subs: Bilokapic, Toffolo, O'Brien, High, Thomas, Holmes, Turton, Campbell, Ward.

Boreham Wood v AFC Wimbledon (15:00 GMT)

Boreham Wood are enjoying an incredible season - chasing promotion to the Football League and through to the third round of the FA Cup for the second successive season.

This time last year they went out after losing 2-0 to Millwall but boss Luke Garrard will be confident his side can overcome his former club AFC Wimbledon and reach the fourth round for the first time in the club's history.

Yeovil Town v Bournemouth (17:45 GMT)

Yeovil were a Championship club as recently as 2013-14 but are now in their third season outside the EFL.

When they were a League Two club in 2017-18, they lost 4-0 at home to Manchester United in the fourth round.

But they will be hopeful of giving Championship leaders Bournemouth a sterner test at Huish Park.

Forward Joe Quigley started his career at Bournemouth and will be looking to make an impression against his former club.

Another ex-Bournemouth player at Yeovil is midfielder Matt Worthington, who at the age of 19 came on as a substitute in the Cherries' Premier League match with Leicester in May 2017.

It's a big day for Rebecca Welch who is set to become the first female referee to take charge of an FA Cup third round match.

She will be in the middle for the Birmingham City- Plymouth Argyle game.

Welch became the first woman to referee an English Football League game in April when Port Vale played Harrogate in League Two.

She was subsequently added to the EFL's national list for men's football.

The 37-year-old also refereed Barrow's 4-0 win at non-league Banbury in the first round of this season's FA Cup.
