Possibly some mind games here with Austria delaying coming out. I don't think it will work on Wales though.
KICK-OFF
Wales 1-0 Austria
We are back under way.
A big half for Wales.

The Wales players are back out first.
I don't know why that feels like a good sign, but it does.
We tell ourselves what we want to hear, I suppose.

It was almost as if the game plan went out the window.
Wales were stuck between a rock and a hard place but once they got that goal it helped to settle them and gave them the opportunity to get into shape and hit on the counter.

Unbelievable, that free-kick. I saw it in training when I played with him and he's shown time and time again he can produce it in games. I've said it before, he's due one and what a time to get it.
Elsewhere in Europe
Diogo Jota has put Portugal 2-0 up against Turkey before half-time.
Italy v North Macedonia and Sweden v Czech Republic remain goalless.

Wales have managed the half out. The talking point is definitely the free-kick. What a hit. He always seems to produce it in a Wales shirt. He’s turned up tonight. It was one of those moments you can say 'I was here'.
What a moment, what a goal

Gareth Bale watches with interest as his glorious free-kick flies over the Austrian wall en route to the top corner of Heinz Lindner's net.
What a moment, what a goal.

This is it. I’d be saying ‘break the game down into 15-minute blocks’ and try to get through each one. See if we can get another goal or just dig in for the 15 minutes. Wales edged the first half. One man, one goal is the difference.

No one can tell me Gareth Bale's career is finished.
HALF-TIME
Wales 1-0 Austria
Half way there.
Gareth Bale, you absolute magician.
Grab a drink, see you in a few.

A half chance for Wales, but Aaron Ramsey is tackled - accidentally - by Dan James.
We are into added time now.
A great 45 minutes for Wales.

Good work from Dan James with pressure that was rewarded. Once Ramsey takes his touch you expect him to score but it was a great save from the keeper.

Wales 1-0 Austria
Better spell for Austria as Christoph Baumgartner sees a looping effort easily saved by Wayne Hennessey.
Wales arguably could be further ahead, but for now I think would happily take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Wales 1-0 Austria
Marcel Sabitzer tries a shot from so far out that it's just utterly ridiculous and I can't think of a suitable joke about it.
CLOSE!
Wales 1-0 Austria
More high pressing from Wales and Aaron Ramsey goes clear, but his shot just deflects wide.
Lovely football from Wales.

Wayne Hennessey misses his punch. Some Austria pressure as they win a corner.
Gareth Bale heads it away....

The Cardiff City Stadium noise is undiminished. It's a really special atmosphere.
The fans have just been singing the name of Gary Speed.
Never forgotten.

Moments like that, you need someone to step up. How anyone could doubt Gareth with what he's achieved over the years and what he continues to achieve is beyond me. It's the same with Aaron Ramsey.

Marko Arnautovic should do better there.
He races clear as Wales play an incredibly high line, but his second touch is far too heavy and allows Wayne Hennessey to come out and smother.
