England 0-1 Germany
Phil Foden swings in a corner from the left and it is met by Eric Dier, but he heads it over. That's Foden's last action as he and Raheem Sterling go off, with Bukayo Saka and Mason Mount going off.
Sterling had looked England's most dangerous player.

Jake C: Whatever England’s current bad form, Iran, USA & Wales is a World Cup group England should comfortably qualify through. Then it’s about momentum & luck of the draw for knockout rounds & Southgate has been very lucky so far in tournaments.
Becoming ugly?
England 0-1 Germany
Chris Sutton
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live
This is where England and Gareth Southgate feel that the team have to be brave and really press the Germans high. If England just sit and the Germans dominate possession, then you can see it becoming ugly.

England 0-1 Germany
Ilkay Gundogan has become the second German international to score for club and country at Wembley after Per Mertesacker.

England 0-1 Germany
England are looking like a side low in confidence and fragile defensively.
This time defender Niklas Sule is able to try his luck from the edge of the box but can only pull his effort wide. Moments later, great skills from Jamal Musiala and he releases Timo Werner and he also shoots off target.
We already knew England would finish bottom of their Nations League group, but if it stays like this they will do so with two points and only one goal from six matches.
Post update
England 0-1 Germany
This is the first time England have conceded first in three straight games since August 2013.
Aside from shootouts, England have now conceded three times from the penalty spot in their last 11 games, which is as many as in their previous 46.

Charlie: Southgate’s loyalty, or some may say, downright stubbornness, when it comes to certain player selections will ultimately cost him his job. What must Tomori be thinking?

England 0-1 Germany
Reece James swings in a cross from the left but good decisive goalkeeping from Marc-Andre Ter Stegen who comes to punch it clear.
England then break down the right flank and win a corner, which Phil Foden takes low. Jude Bellingham slips as he strikes the ball, which goes a few yards past the wide.

Good penalty from Gundogan. Pope actually stands up and thinks Gundogan is going down the middle. Gundogan just slides the ball into Pope's left-hand side.
Just looking at this challenge again from Maguire, that is the narrative as to why Gareth Southgate persists with Harry Maguire.

England 0-1 Germany
A rash finish from Jude Bellingham, who gets the ball on the edge of the penalty area, but the technique is not too good and the shot flies over the top.
Nightmare for Maguire
England 0-1 Germany
Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Wembley
Horrible moment for Harry Maguire. Gave the ball away to Jamal Musiala then clumsily brought him down. Bad for a player whose confidence is fragile and whose selection has been widely questioned.
Maguire incident puts pressure on Southgate
England 0-1 Germany
Alex Howell
BBC Sport at Wembley
It's incidents like that which will make it hard for Gareth Southgate to defend Maguire when he isn't playing regularly for his club.

England want a penalty of their own. Jude Bellingham heads goalwards, the players appeal that it has come off the arm of David Raum, but the referee is not moved.
On second look, it looks like it came off Raum's head, not arm.

Hungary 0-2 Italy
Italy are in control in Budapest now.
It's a lovely move as well. The ball is threaded through down the right-hand side of the area for Bryan Cristante.
He collects it and squares for left-back Federico Dimarco to tap home at the back post.
Italy have one, and maybe half of the other, foot in the finals.
GOAL - England 0-1 Germany
Ilkay Gundogan (penalty)
An extremely cool penalty for Ilkay Gundogan and the Manchester City man rolls the ball into the bottom corner to put Germany ahead at Wembley.
PENALTY to Germany
England 0-0 Germany
Given. Ilkay Gundogan to take it.

The referee goes to check it on a pitchside monitor. This is bad news for Harry Maguire.

This could be a penalty to Germany here. It's poor from Harry Maguire. He gave the ball to Jamal Musiala, who ran at Maguire. The England defender sticks out a leg and catches him with a clumsy mistimed challenge.
The referee originally says no penalty, but the VAR official wants him to check...

England 0-0 Germany
Raheem Sterling has had the best chances and he has another opportunity. Luke Shaw overlaps on the left and that helps create a bit of space for Sterling, who curls the ball goalwards looking to bend it inside the far post.
But Germany goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen shows great handling to dive and hold on to it.

Leah Williamson and Jill Scott, two of the players who played in the Women's Euro final as England beat Germany in July, are at Wembley tonight...
England women's captain Leah Williamson on Channel 4: "I'm normally quite a calm watcher but Jill is the one that gets nervous so I've been a little bit restless today."
On England's first-half performance: "It is just a balance between getting enough players in the box and getting forward quickly enough and it has been good today."
Former England midfielder Jill Scott on Channel 4: "England got into the final third a lot but it was just the quality in the final third at times that let them down."
