A change for Germany and it's ex-Chelsea forward Timo Werner on for Jonas Hofmann. And the second half is go, go, go.

We knew the way Gareth would set up and how he sets up against the better teams. And it is to counter attack and I think the truth in the first half is that Nick Pope hasn't really had anything to do in terms of shot stopping and there hasn't been any big opportunities for Germany.

If anything, England have been slightly wasteful when they had opportunities.

The match, which kicks off at 19:45 BST, will be shown live on the BBC iPlayer, Red Button and Sport website.

England secured qualification in June for next summer's European Under-21 Championship in Romania and Georgia.

Lee Carsley's side won eight of their 10 matches, with their only defeat coming against Slovenia in their final game, when they had already qualified.

It followed three wins in eight days against the Czech Republic, Albania and Kosovo which confirmed England's progress.

Germany topped qualifying Group B with nine wins and one defeat.

    Andros Townsend
    Everton midfielder on 5 Live

I think from the German side, they've had the lion share of possession but haven't troubled us at all. Not really dragging us out of position and not gone down on the side of us. Not gone over us or behind us.

I think from an England side, even though we are not seeing a large amount of the ball, I think we are very comfortable and catching them on the counter attack. We are very dangerous, creating chances but we need to be more clinical.

  7. Another first half blankpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    England 0-0 Germany

England have failed to score a first-half goal in all six of their Nations League games, no team has failed to do so more often in the competition this season.

Definitely an improvement from the match against Italy but still no goal from open play for England.

    On the Kane-Sterling link-up...

Brilliant once again. Harry Kane's weight of pass to Raheem Sterling who is marauding into the box on the left-hand side and gets a run on Kehrer. Decides to shoot on goal with his left-foot.

He could have squared the ball to Phil Foden who would have an easy tap in at the far post. On a few occasions in this first half England have had opportunities to take the lead and have been slightly careless.

Jamal Musiala tries to create something special for Germany but is crowded out. England can't clear the ball and it eventually falls to Joshua Kimmich 25 yards out and in a central position.

Kimmich strikes low and hard and Nick Pope is worried as he flings himself at it, but the shot has gone just wide.

    Hungary 0-1 Italy

Half time in Budapest and Italy lead Hungary through Giacomo Raspadori's 27th-minute strike.

It means that Roberto Mancini's side are currently top of the group and qualifying for next year's finals.

An equaliser would change it all though and put Hungary back top of the group. Plenty to play for.

Paul Christie: This has to be the most lifeless England side I've seen in years. No fluidity or rhythm and an over reliance on Kane's goals which have dried up.

    England 0-0 Germany

A lovely link-up for England between Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling, who has to shoot first time under pressure from Nico Schlotterbeck but away goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is in the right place to deal with Sterling's low strike.

  15. Postpublished at 44 mins

    England 0-0 Germany

Eric Dier twice is in a good position to block crosses from firstly Jamal Musiala and then German captain Joshua Kimmich. Solid defending from the Tottenham man.

  16. Postpublished at 42 mins

    England 0-0 Germany

We've seen both goalkeepers be unconvincing with the ball at their feet this half. Germany's Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, under pressure from Harry Kane, tries to find a team-mate but can only kick the ball out for a throw-in.

  17. Postpublished at 40 mins

    England 0-0 Germany

Substitute Kyle Walker is instantly involved in the action, winning the ball and that sets up an attack. Raheem Sterling releases the overlapping Luke Shaw on the left and his cross is diverted behind for an England corner.

The set-piece finds Harry Maguire at the back post but he can't keep his header down and it is over the bar.

  18. Injury for Stonespublished at 37 mins

    England 0-0 Germany

Bad news for England and Manchester City as centre-half John Stones has done his hamstring and has to go off.

He is going to be replaced by his club team-mate Kyle Walker, who comes on for his 70th England appearance.

England happy to defend deep and don't have a great deal of pace with those three central defenders. Germany having a bit of joy in the wide areas.

Just watching the Sterling and Kehrer incident, there is a slight tug of the jersey from Sterling, but it's the exaggeration which we can't stand.
