Marco Silva is unsurprisingly a popular man with Fulham fans.

It might seem hard to believe now but just 10 months ago Barnsley were firmly in contention to take Fulham's place in the Premier League.

The Tykes' tremendous end to the 2020-21 campaign saw them claim a fifth-placed finish but they were unable to get past Swansea in the play-offs.

It's fair to say that things have not gone quite so well since.

Valerien Ismael left to take over at West Brom and his replacement Markus Schopp was sacked before November was out.

Poya Asbaghi struggled initially but a run of three wins in four games reinvigorated hopes of managing to stay in the second tier before a damaging 2-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Derby last week.

Fulham on the other hand start today 13 points clear of second-placed Huddersfield and confirmation of their immediate return to the top tier now seems to be a mere formality.
