The noise levels go up every time Kylian Mbappe gets the ball. Olivier Giroud heads the ball to Antoine Griezmann, who sprays it out left to Mbappe. He dummies a defender and crosses for Jules Kounde, whose volley is blocked.

Denmark are just trying to stretch the play with their two wing-backs when they get the ball, they're looking for that long diagonal pass from one of the three centre-halves.

France have had six headed shots on target so far at the 2022 World Cup - four more than any other side.

The burst of pace that led to France's best chance was an unwanted reminder for Denmark of the bristling speed they face.

Olivier Giroud may not be quite as much of a pace merchant, but he has joined Kylian Mbappe in lurking beyond the shoulder of his marker in the opening stages, as these average positions show. You don't envy Denmark's defenders here.

Les Bleus have also favoured attacking down that left flank where Mbappe is ever-ready to race clear, sensibly sending more than 43% of their incursions that way.

Denmark haven't done much going forward here. Adrien Rabiot beats Christian Eriksen down near the corner flag and lets the ball run out for a goal-kick.

There's a collective sigh of relief from the France fans seeing Olivier Giroud back onto his feet.

He's moving around freely but Didier Deschamps might want to lace his boots up if his side suffer any more injuries.

Just as well for Didier Deschamps, who decided not to replace Karim Benzema and just go with a 25-man squad. It's down to 24 now following Lucas Hernandez's injury.

Kylian Mbappe had done Andreas Christensen, he won the ball and was away on goal. Luckily for Christensen there were two defenders within three or four yards who perhaps would've got to the ball. The France players think it's a red card.

The defenders have helped there, if they weren't there it would be a red.

First proper chance of the game comes from that free-kick. Antoine Griezmann lofts the ball down to Ousmane Dembele on the right. He crosses and Adrien Rabiot gets a powerful header onto it which Kasper Schmeichel saves well.

Big moment here... yellow card for Denmark defender Andreas Christensen.

Antoine Griezmann plays a through ball to Kylian Mbappe and it looks as if he's asked far too much of the PSG striker, but the speed king does get there first and Christensen pulls him down.

They're 40 yards from goal and there were other defenders so it's yellow and not red. He took one of the team there really.

Looking forward to seeing how Denmark centre-back Joachim Andersen deals with the presence of Olivier Giroud tonight.

The Crystal Palace player has impressed since arriving in the Premier League with not only his defensive duties, but his range of passing too.

France have had four shots so far, but nothing to get too excited about. Two blocked efforts and a couple of off-target headers.

Better start than they had against Australia by far though.

Ousmane Dembele sends a defender one way and the other before lifting in a cross which Olivier Giroud heads wide under pressure.

Good ball in - Olivier Giroud was lurking there, stretching his neck out with expectation he was going to get something on that free-kick.
