The ball breaks for Ousmane Dembele on the right, he speeds forward and has a crack from the edge of the box but he doesn't get the power or placement onto the shot and it's a simple save.

    Classic Dembele to be honest.

  3. France not just playing keep-ballpublished at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2022

    France 0-0 Poland

    Chris Bevan
BBC Sport at Al Thumama Stadium, Qatar

France have had 71% of possession in the first 15 minutes but they are not just keeping the ball, they look dangerous whenever they come forward.

  4. 'Poland's issue'published at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2022

    France 0-0 Poland

    Chris Sutton
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is going to be Poland's issue.

They're going to sit deep. But how do they get up the pitch? It's the issue they had in the Argentina match.

  5. Postpublished at 16 mins

    France 0-0 Poland

Poland keeper Wojciech Szczesny is quickly off his line to stop Olivier Giroud reaching Antoine Griezmann's through ball. I suspect France wish another forward had been there instead.

This France team look so good, only team I can see beating them is Brazil and even then... what happens when an immovable object meets an unstoppable force?

    France 0-0 Poland

France have another corner, which comes to nothing, and then a good Polish block on the edge of the area stops them entering the box.

Is a goal coming? It does feel as if it may.

  8. Postpublished at 12 mins

    France 0-0 Poland

Best chance of the game as France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni blasts in a shot from a good 30 yards. It's bouncing and the Polish keeper parries.

In those one-on-one situations, Kylian Mbappe is unplayable.

That pace is frightening from Kylian Mbappe, he just takes his man on and Matty Cash has got to sort his feet out. But it's a case of what do you do? Do you get try and get tight to him?

I tried it with Thierry Henry once, I got it wrong.

    France 0-0 Poland

Kylian Mbappe glides past Matty Cash like he wasn't there - he's so fast it's impossible to deal with him - and crosses for Ousmane Dembele.

It results in another French corner, which is cleared.

    France 0-0 Poland

Kylian Mbappe beats Matty Cash with a nice steopver and crosses but a Polish defender puts it behind with a diving header.

Wojciech Szczesny punches away Antoine Griezmann's corner.

  13. All a bit echoeypublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2022

    France 0-0 Poland

    Chris Bevan
BBC Sport at Al Thumama Stadium, Qatar

It feels like Poland have already got up the pitch more than they did in an entire 90 minutes against Argentina. They are playing with more energy too - they need it.

The stadium hasn't really filled up since I last mentioned those empty seats. The France fans are doing their best but it's all a bit echoey in here.

  14. 'Poland showing intent'published at 15:07 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2022

    France 0-0 Poland

    Chris Sutton
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I'm really pleased because Poland have already shown far more intent than they did in the whole of their match against Argentina.

They need to play with balance but if they create opportunities for Robert Lewandowski, we know what a fine finisher he is.

It does feel as if Poland's hopes do hinge on the great man up front, doesn't it? Robert Lewandowski has netted 14 goals in his last 21 caps.

Hard to see Poland getting anything in this game. But if Lewandowski can finally find his World Cup form, they might just have a chance.

Decent cross by Matty Cash, the Slough-born Pole, but Hugo Lloris is able to catch.

  18. Postpublished at 5 mins

Escape for France. Hugo Lloris is put under immediate pressure by a couple of Poland players and just about gets it away. Good pressing by the Poles.

Decent chance for France, this. Antoine Griezmann whips in the corner and Raphael Varane of Manchester United heads wide.
