    Croatia fans

Though not many were about in Souq Waqif this afternoon, an almighty roar suddenly went up around me as I was munching on a Nutella baklava and karak tea for lunch.

Thankfully there were no spillages and I turned around to see what the commotion was about.

It turned out that a local Arab was wearing his traditional clothing, but carrying a Croatia flag on his back.

A few of the European side's supporters had spotted this and the man was very popular for the next few minutes as those in red and white checked tops got an opportunity for some selfies.

It was the first time I'd seen that as well, locals usually opt for the Messi or Ronaldo shirts.

  2. The final four

    Argentina v Croatia (19:00 GMT)

Here we are then... the final four.

It isn't the four many of us expected. It certainly isn't the quartet a lot us were hooping for. But everywhere you look, there are stories waiting to be told, heroes desperate to be forged, legends itching to be set in stone.

Tonight, in Lusail, four will be reduced to three.

The only question is... will it be the lads in white and light blue stripes or the fellas in red and white checks?
