  1. 'Lampard's gone for a team to make sure Everton win'published at 19:19 British Summer Time 23 August 2022

Fleetwood Town v Everton (19:45 BST)

    Conor McNamara
    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

Frank Lampard needs a win, doesn't he? After all the stress and drama of the back end of last season, Everton wanted a nice, steady start to this campaign.

They came within a couple of minutes of losing a third Premier League game in a row on Saturday. They are hoping Demarai Gray's late equaliser against Nottingham Forest will be a turning point and stuff will settle down.

Lampard's gone for an experienced team to make sure that they do so. Asmir Begovic starts in goal; Reece Welch, who played in the FA Cup last year, gets his second senior appearance for the club.

There's the return of Seamus Coleman - his first appearance of the new season after injury - and Ruben Vinagre plays on the left as well, making his full debut and his first start for his new team.

Given the shortage of strikers at the club, you'd imagine they might want to wrap Salomon Rondon in cotton wool. But he needs games and leads the line tonight.

Jay-Jay Okocha scored twice and Kevin Nolan and Bruno Ngotty also found the net when Bolton won the fixture 5-2 at home in the 2004 semi-finals, with Juan Pablo Angel finding the net in either half for the away side.

Villa won the second leg of the all-Premier League tie 2-0, going out 5-4 on aggregate. Bolton lost 2-1 to Middlesbrough in the final.
