Since Opta started recording World Cup assist data (from 1966), England’s Jude Bellingham (19y 158d) became the first teenager to assist a goal in a knockout stage game at the tournament.

  2. 'Sky is the limit with Bellingham in team'

    FT: England 3-0 Senegal

    Martin Keown

Former England defender on BBC TV

Best performance I have seen from a midfield player in this competition. The three of them in midfield working together, it really does look good there.

When I look back to the last World Cup... it feels like our midfield has improved most of all and Jude Bellingham and Decland Rice are part of that.

Bellingham is a top level player and we are lucky to have him. With him in the team the sky is the limit.

  3. 'Magnifique'

Conradk: Absolutely outstanding performance from Jude Bellingham, it's hard to believe he's only 19. What a career he's got ahead of him. Also, great to see Jordan Henderson start and even better to get the opening goal, he is such a solid presence and deserves to start the next game.

  6. Standout performance

    FT: England 3-0 Senegal

By the way, how good was Jude Bellingham? He's 19-years-old for goodness sake!

  7. 'Super impressive'

    FT: England 3-0 Senegal

    Matt Upson

Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

    .

Super impressive, super confident especially in this second half. I was a little bit concerned until the first goal went in.

You just felt when it would click for England and when they would go through the gears and the quality and the movement would come together, they would pull Senegal apart.

This was a stubborn Senegal team who set up physically and tactically very well for this game. Massive parts of that second half were super comfortable. Not particularly competitive and I just think Senegal found it really hard to get themselves back into this game.

A lot of positives for England and a really good win.

  8. 'Lions roar'

Unsurprisingly, there is wall-to-wall coverage of England's win in Monday's papers.

  9. 'Good chance of winning World Cup'

Tweet using #bbcfootball or Text 81111 (UK standard rates apply)

Alan: If we can get past France, we’ll have a good chance of getting our hands on that trophy.

Paul: I worry about what happens when we face teams like France, Spain etc because of our habit to play safe and within ourselves, but when this England attack stretches its legs it is a delight to watch. Fingers crossed it gets that chance next Saturday...

  10. 'Perfect night for Southgate'

    FT: England 3-0 Senegal

    Phil McNulty

BBC Sport chief football writer in Doha

England will meet France in the World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday after an impressive demolition of Senegal at Al Bayt Stadium.

Gareth Southgate's side survived a nervy opening in which goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made an outstanding save from Boulaye Dia to run out convincing winners with a powerful display of attacking strength.

Jude Bellingham was England's star man, setting up the first goal for Jordan Henderson with a perfect cross after 38 minutes then having a hand in the second on the stroke of half-time, combining with Phil Foden as captain Harry Kane powered home his first of the tournament.

It left Kane just one behind Wayne Rooney's all-time record of 53 England goals and he now has the perfect stage here in Qatar to write a fresh page in the history books.

Foden was the creator once more as England wrapped the game up in the 57th minute, crossing for Bukayo Saka to show great awareness and touch to flick a delicate finish past Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

It capped the perfect night for manager Southgate, who opted to restore Saka and keep faith with Foden, leaving out Marcus Rashford despite his two goals in the win over Wales.
